Control engineering: ME or EE?

I know it's usually EE. However, how can an EE who hasn't taken mechanics/dynamics classes design a controller? Do they just get specifications from MEs and implement them? Thanks.

Both EE and ME at my school offer controls as a masters program. Is it the same elsewhere?

you can usually specialize in controls in either program, but i would definitely go for EE. you'll learn more, and be able to take more advanced control classes without that extra ME baggage that doesn't interest you.

as an EE, you can take a few robotics courses and be all set for the mechanical part of controls. a basic dynamics course would also be a good idea.
