Convenience stores?

I was wondering if anyone knew about shopping around Cornell? For example, if you ran out of shampoo, is there somewhere nearby (maybe in Collegetown?) where you could buy more? I'm looking for something like a Walgreens or Rite-Aid, or even Target or Walmart, for anything from toiletries to school supplies, not including the Cornell Store.

walmart!!! and the subterranian campus store

There's a Target at the mall (which has shuttles to/from the campus), there's a Wegman's downtown, and there are a few smaller stores around where you could surely find shampoo/toiletries (they might even sell hemp shampoo at the hemp store in the commons, if that's your thing, lol).

How far away are Walmart, Target, and Wegmans by bus? And where on Campus does the bus pick you up from? Also, is that the same bus you can buy a pass for in the Cornell Bound packet?

Hello fellow Juniors/ future Cornellians. LOL..hey Patrick

The TCAT is only bus in town, as far as I know. It should go from Cornell to the stores and malls (such as Pyramid Mall to the north). And now, for some opinions:

You realize, of course, that if you are seen going into the Wal-Mart in Ithaca, you will be shunned by the entire town for the duration of your studies.

Well, that MIGHT be an exagerration. However, the people in Ithaca really don't like Wal-Mart. But Wegmans is an awesome store (although I have only seen the supermarket part).

As for Target, "I tried to walk into Target the other day, but I missed. I think the entrance to Target should have people splattered all around."

haha, thanks for the Wal-mart tip.

A wal-mart in inthaca seems out of place somehow.

hey there!
lol, yeah, the wal-mart isn't really a "happenin'" place.

There are also on campus convenience stores on north, central, and west. They will have some basic food items, toiletries, and magazines.

The stores on campus maximize the convenience since you don't even have to go off campus. They also maximize the prices too...

There is a Wegmen's Supermarket in Ithaca not far from the Cornell campus.

If you are not familiar with Wegman's then you are in for a shopping treat.

Wegman's is simply stated the best supermarket chain in the Uniteed States. It's stores are not the cheapest by any means (nor unreasonably priced) however it is the best run with the best marketers. Wegman's stores are very large & most have food courts inside with in store seating.

Collegetown has a convenience store and a small drug store, so you may get a little variety relatively close by.
