ok so I was SO close to sending in my money and making my decision to go to UR final but then I don't know if it's just cold feet but all of a sudden I'm having doubts. PLEASE just convince me to go to UR and stop worrying!

At this point, you should know all the goods and bads about UR. So all I can say is:

Go to UR!! Go to UR!! Go to UR!! At URochester, you'll meet amazing people, and have tremendous opportunities to explore your intended field. The next four years will be one of the happiest time in your life!! Any reason for declining this excellent insitution? NO!!

Is this convincing enough? :P

Anyway, looking forward to meeting you at UR next year!

Go to UR or we all will kick ur butt.

Convincing enough? lol

haha alright you guys are starting to convince me. i know ill prob end up going i just need to hear people keep raving about the school. :-)

Rochester has a curriculum unlike that of any other institution in the country. It lets you study what YOU love to study, and therefore, in your classes, you'll be surrounded by intelligent people who WANT to be there. If you love to learn and don't want to be held back by required courses, what's not to love about UR? Come join us.

you know what the greatest thing is goign to be? next year, ur going to be sitting in ur dorm room, talking to friends that went to other colleges. and they're going to be complaining about how they need to take a course to get it out of the way because it's part of the gen ed requirement.

and u'll sit there, laugh quietly to urself, and tell them that u don't have to take courses to get them out of the way because YOU HAVE NOT GEN ED CLASSES

alternatively, you could just laught in their face when they tell u the above problems. that's also a lot of fun

but really, that's probably one of the greatest reasons to attend

ok..i sent in my deposit! i'm going to UR..i know it's right for me i just needed to make the decision. i can't wait to meet everyone in the fall!

well done! now i need to convince myself to do the same. rather, i need to make some sort of decision, even if it's not rochester (even though I've assumed im going since early decisions came out). I think im going to be choosing my future college out of a hat.

You got in early decision and you are still not sure whether you are going or not?

don't u have to go if u got in ED? anywayz...about the weather...u could always use the underground tunnels which connect all the buildings, that is, if u don't wanna strike up a snowball fight with me! lol...

no, i didn't get in ED. i got in the 1st of march, but there was very little doubt that i would get in from the start. what i meant was that as soon as i got rejected from my early school, i realized that Rochester was my first choice. between then and march 30th, when I found out about Penn, i was slowly getting used to the fact that I was going to be Rochester class 2010...

go to penn...

Go to UR. You come here to convince others to go to UR, but now if you choose to go to somewhere else, it just doesn't make sense at all, and contradict yourself!

"I think im going to be choosing my future college out of a hat."

Ditto!!!!

lol. thanks behappy99. i wish it were that easy. actually, i've found lately that I can convince ppl to go to more or less any university that's a itsy bit prestigious, because i did so much college research last year, i know enough to espouse any school sincerely.

interestingly, when I stayed overnight at UR, every student I told my choice would immediately say 'go to penn'.

right now, though, i feel like i'd be much happier at UR, but my education would progress much better at penn. plus, i live nearby, which has its own benefits. but im leaning heavily to UR.. i think im going to send in my deposit this weekend.

When I read this - "but my education would progress much better at penn. plus, i live nearby, which has its own benefits. " , I thought chemaddict17 would probably choose UPenn, and this did make sense for the fact that it is ivy. What a great temptation!
But then, "im leaning heavily to UR.. i think im going to send in my deposit this weekend." - WOW! SO you are going to TURN DOWN UPenn, becoming one of my future classmates? I can't really believe it for a second! But it's definitely a smart choice!! lol

good job man, u can't go wrong either way...well there's a chance at penn, but at UR, with us, everything will be awesome--we will make the best times of our lives happen at UR

=) I think you'd learn alot more at UPenn, but ud probably be too busy to enjoy college life. UR provides a great education but its got a really nice atmosphere of being laid back too. I know that if I had a choice right now, Id have to turn down the ivy soley on the fact that I cant handle the pace that Ivies go at, i simply cant =P. I could take up that pace of education at UR too if I wanted, but the thing is - i dont have to! Thats whats so great about the place - who knows I might choose to anyway if I mature more as a student While im there...neuroscience is a tough major

btw ppl - the pics are up! see Post "amazing campus visit"

according to princeton review- penn is the most social ivy and not cutthroat at all

stonecold23, may I ask what school you will be heading to in the fall?
