I am sooooooo close to getting an A in my apush class this semester.

After my final I will likely be at 89.3 ....how can i convince my teacher give me the little bump i need...especially if she has a repuation of not doing so....

I need to know too, if I screw up on my math final (probably will), I’ll need to do some persuading as well
I’d say buy her chocolate, flatter her by telling her she is the best teacher ever, and do extra credit.

That’s kind of a big bump, and if she has a reputation of not doing so I doubt it will happen. I only needed a half point bump and mu teacher wouldn’t give it to me. Don’t buy her anything or suck up to her, that’s just creepy. Just ask and if she doesn’t give you an A life goes on.

Giver her some private entertainment if you know what I mean

Darn…Someone has to have the highest “B” in the class. It’s hard when it’s you, isn’t it?

very funny steven.

I know its gonna be hard especially because shes had that repuation, but I really tired in her class and i did well in history fair (even though it was not a project for her class), i got third in state and many other awards for it…but idk if thats good enough reason to convince her…

I really really really want that a, if it doesnt happen, it might become the first b in my high schhool career (tear tear, i know lol), but seriously this was my second semester jr. year and i want to maintain it sooo bad…im willing to do it at any cost. i was doing well in her class up until the last test where she crammed like almost 70 years of history in one test which we didnt even go over…many many people suffered because of this. ahhhh

I don’t think there’s any harm trying for an A. some kids at my school suck up to teachers like crazy in order to get special extra credit assignments…it isn’t fair, but in real life, most of the time things are negotiable.
have you talked to her one-on-one after class about it? What did she say?

well theres no way she’ll give any extra credit…its against her “policy”…so really all I can do is beg.

Well I’ll encourage you to try but if she has a reputation of not being flexible on things like that then don’t get your hopes up.

Talk to her ONE ON ONE. After class or after school.
Don’t give up lol, plead about how you are a hard worker etc, or say can I do a bonus project for the mark etc…

yeah, i will do that as soon as finals week is over. ughhh i hateee school right now!!

Write a brilliant essay and leave it with a note on her desk asking her to bring up your grade. You decide if the time = .2 points or not.

I don’t have any wisdom to offer on this. Rather, I have an anecdote that I think is worth retelling.

My stats professor: “A student once came to me and complained that her 89.5 wasn’t bumped up to an A. What if there is a cliff, over alligator infested water, 90 inches away? Let’s say I run and I jump and I land 89.5 inches away. Did I make it or didn’t I?”

Obviously, there is no reasoning with certain profs/teachers/administrators.

Be polite and diplomatic about it. Don’t beg, and clearly outline why you deserve this grade boost. If she refuses, let it go. One B+ among a sea of A’s is still a solid transcript.

I don’t think buying her a CD will be good enough. ???

man up, i was .1% away from getting an A and i didn’t get it

I once missed an A by 0.1. This caused my GPA to be 3.797, and 3.8 is the cutoff for High Honors.

^ahhh that sucks soooo bad. I hope and pray that im lucky!!! =(

Good luck. I’m in a similar situation. I’m gonna be borderline in math. It really sucks cause it’s because I’m lazy (teacher knows this). I was dumb enough to think aime would be goo enough for a guaranteed a. It wasn’t. Crap

i guess i’m very lucky, or i have very relaxed teachers… when i saw my average for the quarter in a certain class was an 88, i simply asked my teacher if it could be changed to a 90 because i wanted to maintain my honor roll status. even though this teacher has openly said she doesn’t like me, she raised the grade, no questions asked =]
