Unweighted GPA.

You didn’t say chances for which colleges.

You appear kind of obnoxious when you call Ivy league schools IVies and when you group them as HYP & others. With that said, you are simply another contender in a pool of solid but unhooked contenders. There is no guarantee at any of the schools you’re looking at but you’re in decent company.

No, it’s not. Unless your school does GPA on a 5-point scale, your unweighted GPA can’t be any higher than a 4.0.

We need more information and stuff. That is why no one is responding

Did you mean a high reach for Stanford? Your test scores are really good, but so are those of everyone else. Are you going into medicine?

Solid, but you don’t have a hook. You have a decent shot–your test scores and gpa are great, but if your essays and interview were fantastic, then you could really improve your chances imo.

Chance me:

Your scores are great! Even though you don’t have as strong EC’s as other applicants do, if you show that your really passionate about them, that will defiantly improve your chances. For now, you should just try to make your essay the best it can be and have great interview.

Chance Me Back?

What you have posted here sounds great, but you should think harder about other things you’ve accomplished/how to highlight them more - you need to STAND OUT. Nearly everyone that applies to Ivy Leagues is going to have amazing APs, SATs, and GPAs… but you’re on a good track.

I think your hospital fundraiser for lymphoma sounds like a promising start for a college essay. Good luck!

Chance me back?

you have great scores and you seems really competitive. but i think you should show something more personal and unique when writing you essays! good luck!

and please chance me back~

sooooooo… what schools are you applying to?

I believe you are a good candidate for Ivy League: I think your chances are over 60% at Cornell and Brown. For the others, it will be tougher. Hahvahd=40-45% I think.

You have very strong grades and testing scores, but as you’ve said, pretty average for an Asian Ivy applicant. Keep in mind that there are literally thousands of concertmasters/mistresses all over the world, and as many posters have already stated, you lack a distinct hook. That said, you are a solid applicant, and I wish you the best of luck on your essays and recommendations, both of which could truly set you apart. Definitely send in your applications.

However, I have to question your generalization of Ivy league colleges. Don’t get me wrong, I am looking towards couple of Ivies as well, but the truth is that each of the Ivy colleges are so distinct and unique. Each have a unique academic focus, faculty, environment, resources, etc. Although these colleges are prestigious, that point alone should not be the sole reason that you apply to these colleges.

Don’t spend your next four years, invest them where you can grow as a person :D

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/746334-what-my-chances-these-liberal-arts-colleges-others.html

Your stats are good but there’s nothing about you that will make you stand out.

Try to convey your passion for medicine, as that seems to be the predominant theme in your EC’s.

You’re stats are there, and you know it (average stats? You’re crazy if you think so, considering you’re in the top 25% of ANY incoming class of freshman to any school as far as SATs go). But, you’re boring. And you’re highlighting your average boringness, as though you have no confidence in yourself. So, if this is how you are… it depends on whether the schools can fit in someone more exciting rather than you. The fact that you’re grouping HYP together as well as all the ivies tells me you don’t really care. You’d do better finding the ONE top school you most want to go to (out of all the ivies, stanford, MIT, duke, uchicago, etc.). It’s better to have one stellar application to these schools than many applications where you show you don’t really care about their school individually, but rather as a group.

Figure out what you look: core? (Princeton). More conservative, smaller? (Dartmouth?). Prestige (Harvard/Yale… though that’s gotta be the one of the worst reasons to pick a college). Open curriculum? (Brown). City life? Harvard if you like Boston, Columbia if you like crazy new york. Cornell if you like college-towns in a quiet rural area. UPenn if you’re into big colleges.

And WHY are you even considering these top colleges? Is it the prestige? The chance to make more money? If so, go with a cheaper college (Berkeley for in-staters, which is also more focused on stats being a state school), because frankly so long as oyu go to a decent school, and push yourself, you’ll have chances to get great jobs, go to great med schools, etc. There has to be some other reason to go to a top school, or else you’re pretty much better off saving your money and staying in state.

I would highly recommend beefing up your community service. You are the stereotypical applicant, so you need something to REALLY make you stand out. Your essay is a really good place to do that.
Also focusing on just Ivy is silly. I can understand if you want the name but there are some AMAZING colleges out there that cost a lot less. Lets face it: Nobody gives a crap where you got your Bachelors. To make a considerable amount of money you need a Masters and that is when you should look at Ivy schools. For med consider UCLA. It is quite good from what I’ve heard.

Hey, just wondering, how did you manage to land in internship with an oncologist!? You’re only a high schooler!

And, I guess to chance, just have your essays stand out and highlight a passion for one of your extracurriculars…
