@ChoatieMom . What crisp white wine are you serving? Always looking for something new to try.
We have J Pinot Gris for a nice drinking white. Tonight I made a decadent chocolate bread pudding with the loaf of challah bread I got free at the farmers market. And for dinner defrosted some Honeybaked Ham. Made some potato salad in the instapot with market potatoes before they went bad and sautéed snow peas and asparagus before they went bad. New market box tomorrow.
We had a big grain salad–NY Times recipe. Grain was Italian farro, which I’d not cooked before. We all were full and the salad was great. Tomorrow–I’ve declared no cooking and we’ll get take out from our favorite Indian restaurant.
@dentmom4: DH served a Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. I generally prefer reds, but this one paired well with the pasta. And it was cold which is critical now that temps are well above 100 here in AZ.
Very simple but delicious. A family favorite.

Tonight: grilled octopus with caramelized onions and a sage lemon vinaigrette. My D22 favorite …
It’s Fall again, so chili on the menu and the rest of the salad from last night.
Grilled octopus! Wow. I don’t have the confidence to try and prepare something like that.
Last nights Korean barbecue was a huge success. Today I prepared another batch of DIY grain salad. Lunch was noodles, tonight we’re grilling burgers. I’m enjoying a Hardywood beer - an IPA appropriately named “None of This Makes Sense”. A white wine we’ve recently enjoyed is a 2016 Conundrum from Costco. Not bad for $12.99.
I think we tried that wine and liked it @sabaray . That beer sounds good, too. I’ve never clicked on this thread since I don’t cook, but I wanted to post how much we are enjoying our Hello Fresh meals. My husband prepares them (I pick them out each week). I think it’s some work to prepare them (lots of chopping), but they taste SO good! One of my friends has tried a bunch of the pre-packaged meals and liked Hello Fresh the best and gave us a free week. We’ve now done it for a few months. It’s more expensive than buying the groceries and making the meal yourself (which we wouldn’t do), but cheaper than bringing in restaurant food. It tastes fresh and the portions are good sized. We usually have at least one lunch meal left over. We get 3 or 4 a week delivered.
We left at lunchtime for two weeks at our beach house and stopped along the way at our favorite produce stand. Picked up some corn on the cob and amazing looking asparagus, as well as a bunch of other things.
Tonight we are grilling marinated flank steak and serving it with roasted red potatoes and corn on the cob.
Tonight was ravioli with home made sauce (sorry, gravy is brown) and salad, home made garlic bread. Work tomorrow, so no alcohol.?
Tonight we had steaks on the grill. Then from our farmers box we had fried green tomatoes and a big salad. A Tuscan bean salad from Costco rounded out for those with big appetites.
I made my daughter’s red curry chicken over rice. Delicious!
I’m not a cook, but fortunately both my daughters learned to cook from their friends. Now I’m learning from them.
@doschicos - that looks so good, I’m definitely going to try it.
We had a beef roast tonight, with mashed butternut squash and roasted asparagus (picked up at the farmers market today).
Finally was able to get some ground beef in my order so last night was my husband’s famous cheeseburgers, baked potatoes with all the fixings, asparagus. Tonight was an al fresco lobster dinner with corn on the cob, green salad and pesto pasta salad.
Yesterday afternoon, my husband’s administrative assistant and her husband came over for a social distancing visit on our deck. We had a great time catching up–they brought their own wine and we did too (Dumol Pinot Noir). They left around 7pm. We had planned to have leftovers from a takeout dinner, but neither one of us was hungry. We had ice cream(vanilla and chocolate) that we got in our grocery store order earlier in the day and skipped dinner.
Our grocery has started carrying Tillamook products and I am guilty of buying their cheese and ice cream in large quantities. The ice cream is really, really good - in my opinion. That’s something I’m going to have to stop buying. Tonight I’m afraid it’s going to be Chipotle. I barely slept last night, am busy at work and just don’t have the energy to cook tonight.
Meatless Monday for me. It’s a nice just about 70 degree day and I want something simple so I think I’ll do the NYT quick and easy ramen with some added vegetables.
H can have some leftovers or I can throw some leftover chicken into his ramen!
We have an abundance of fruit (H went to Costco on his own, a first, and got caught up in buying too many fruits) so maybe I’ll make a smoothie to go with my ramen!
@abasket - according to my husband, one can never have too much fruit. ? Judging by how much fruit he eats, my Mr. must have been a fruit bat in his previous life. ?
I’ve been cleaning all day so leftover chili from last night and sautéed broccoli.
