aj410, from what i’ve read, cornell’s suicide rate is right at the nation’s average. above average would be schools like MIT. it’s just that people tend to remember recent events, and last year’s suicides were very well publicized. besides that year though, cornell was doing fine. the fact that they happen over spectacular gorges and cornell is an ivy school only leads to more news coverage than if it were just a drug overdose at the local community college.

and i’m going to assume that you think the students are the unhappiest because you think the suicide rate is high. even if it were high, that would not mean the average student is unhappy; one word: outliers.

at any rate, if i commit suicide next year or in the upcoming years i’ll be sure to get back to you =)

also, from what i’ve seen, ithaca looks awesome. great college town from what i’ve seen and heard. the middle of nowhere is fine with me. i’ll take that over NYC any day. much more tightly-knit student body is what ‘middle of nowhere’ screams to me. great gorges, great natural environtment. the buildings at cornell aren’t bad either. there’s something for everyone at cornell from what i’ve seen. we’ll see
