Congratulations! We’d love to hear your stats and advice for those applying in the future.

Thanks! Here are my stats:

ECs/Activities:

  2. National Circuit debater (ranked as high as 17th in nation; won elim rounds at a bunch of national tournaments, etc.)
  3. Chief intern at a music nonprofit: organized concerts at senior homes; developed music theory curriculum and taught piano to kids at underfunded elementary schools
  4. My own photography business
  5. Piano: played & did ok at competitions for about 10 yrs
  • a few other things that weren’t as big/important

Rec letters: AP Comparative Politics Teacher & President of music mentorship nonprofit I work with

Essays: I spent an insane amount of time on the three essays. My advice is to know your audience (the coolidge foundation) and to not be superficial or pretentious. The foundation likes humility and can also tell when people have done their research. Be creative and spend time analyzing coolidge because it really shows.

In case anyone is reading this old thread…

How important are standardized test scores in the whole application?
I got 1550 SAT (sillied in math), but 1510 PSAT.
I also scored two 4s out of seven AP tests. The rest are 5s.

Would those seriously affect my chance since everyone I read here seems so strong? I guess I’m not the best taker but I put tremendous energy into community service.
Thanks for your attention!
