Coolsculpting

Has anybody done it? I’d like some feed back i.e. effective at melting middle-aged spread? Safety? Are you still Battling The Bulge or did it stay away? Downtime? Recovery? Meaningful difference? Did you drop a dress size or two etc. Thank you!

I heard you only end up losing a little bit of weight, and it’s not effective for those needing to shed 10 pounds or more. As someone said, if you’re already pretty slim, it will make you slimmer in specially targeted areas. For everyone else, the results are negligible.

I actually tried it recently for the abdomen which has always been a problem spot for me. I had gained significant weight after an injury and went when I was halfway to my goal. They say you should be within 20 lbs of your goal when you do it. I was about 12 lbs away.

It was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. Definitely achy the next day, like I had done situps. They say it usually takes 4 wks to see a big effect. I am still dieting and working out but feel like my stomach has gone down faster than on past diets. I am 3 wks in and have lost over an inch in that area. I will let you know how it looks when I hit the 4 wk mark.

I also feel like its motivation to keep up with my workouts since I put that much money into the coolsculpting.

I’ve been wondering about it too. I’m slim, don’t really have any weight to lose, but I’m super annoyed that I’ve got love handles or, actually, just plain saggy stuff from aging. It doesn’t go away no matter what exercise I do.

I have these hard to lose bulges on my hips. There is more fat accumulation there when I gain weight, what I’ve always wondered is this (with coolsculping or liposuction): if you take out the fat cells in a certain area, won’t the fat just show up somewhere else if you gain a few pounds? Trading one problem area for now another?

I don’t know how effective it is but the ads are really awful.

The ads ARE LOL, most of them seem to be chubby women who are chubby women wearing spanks in the weeping at their own “after” photo shots. My take on that is if even the ads can’t make any good case for it, it sure must be useless.

My wife did it last year. And she is 5 7 and 135. She has some concerns to address from a heavy prednisone series. But pretty modest needs and expectations.

It did nothing in reality and it was the same as lighting the 7500 on fire.

If you need fat removal see a real md and get liposuction. That’s the real deal.

Wow, @privatebanker, that sounds very discouraging!

@himom. It’s only one single person though.

But it’s how we felt. I’m sorry, but it must be working for someone. Maybe I was being too negative. It did seem that they played on my wife’s insecurities and had her pay a big down payment that same day.

Everyone - it’s just one experience and it might be perfect for you.

And maybe she spent more there than other facilities or happened to choose a bad med spa.

I’m just sorry they prey on folks’ insecurities and over-promise & under-deliver. $7500 is a hefty amount to get no appreciable results.

I’d be very interested to read results of others—hopefully anyone with another experience may chime in. Thanks for sharing—very helpful.

My SIL had coolsculpting and it was very painful for a while after the procedure. She did not have significant results.

To add to your consideration, there is Liposonix. Here’s an article comparing it with coolscuplting.

Disclaimer: I have no personal knowledge about any of these procedures, nor do I know anyone who has had any of these.

My suggestion? Love the body you have, and donate that $7500 to charity. Our standards are wacky

Thanks, everyone. I think I’ll have to give some serious consideration before deciding what, if anything, I’ll do next.
I’m not a dieter, and I do pretty rigorous exercise each day, however, my weight seems to be shifting from my neck and shoulder area down to my waist and hips, and I hate it. I’m looking more and more like a pudgy old woman!
I was hoping Coolsculpting, or a version of it, would be my salvation!

From what little I’ve read, it sounds like Liposonix may be more promising for what you just wrote than coolscuplting. I’d do a lot of research before I did anything else. Sounds like there are quite a few unhappy customers.

Very timely thread for me as I was wondering what to do about my hips while I was trying on dresses this weekend. So frustrating! I workout and do a combo of weight training and cardio so I’m not completely out of shape, but like some of you my excess weight has settled in my hips/thighs and it isn’t going anywhere. I don’t have the round belly that many women my age have but I am wide in the hip area. I can control it somewhat by wearing spanx but that will make for a very long day by the time I attend a wedding and a reception 2 hours later, or sit through graduation. I get frustrated by the lack of results from exercise, but then I wonder what I would look like if I didn’t work out!

I don’t have anything to add to the thread, but thought it was interesting after my frustrating shopping trips this weekend.

My dermatologist has some before and after pics of Coolsculpting, and the difference looks so minimal, like half an inch! You really can barely see a difference…and these are the best case scenarios that they are marketing? So I’d never do it for that amount of money.

DH, who is a bit vain (he got it from his parents) did it because he was unhappy with his love handles. He’s quite slim but a little saggy like most 67 year olds. He had Coolsculpting. If there was any difference, I couldn’t see it.

I guess all of these responses have made my decision for me - not need to spend $ for something that makes almost no difference! Ugh. Thank you, all
