Cooper Union Architecture ED

Hi,
Wanted to create this thread to find anyone else applying to Cooper Architecture Early Decision and also to see if I could get some questions answered. I’m moving through my home test right now, and as painful and stressful as it is, it’s still a fun process (feels good to stretch your brain). Anyways, I want to see if anyone knows of the admission % for early decision, it’s normally higher for most schools, but I can’t find any data from CU.
Thanks!

cooper union art school parent here. Heads up… Info on ANYTHING related to cooper is just about impossible to get. I can’t figure out if they are super secretive or super inept. My daughter thinks probably the latter…

Haha, yes. I’ve gathered that too. The school doesn’t quite have a grasp on technology… I received a text informing me that the Early Decision date listed on the Common Application was wrong (11/1 not 12/1) a few days before the end of October…a little messy.
Regardless, I think the learning environment makes up for all of their logistical struggles. Thanks for the comment!

Well…this forum didn’t develop as much as I would have liked. I sent my studio test earlier this week and should receive a decision in 2ish weeks… If anyone wants to talk abt cooper, I’d really like to (maybe it’ll distract me from all my anxiousness

Hey, did you get in?

I was deffered /:
How about you guys?

deferred*

Deferred also

You wouldn’t by any chance happen to know their rate of deferral? I know some schools like Georgetown give all of their ED applicants deferral if they aren’t accepted.

No, unfortunately. There is nothing online about their acceptance rates for ED or their rate of deferral.

Yea, I plan on calling admissions tomorrow to get some more info and gauge how much (or little) I can expect an acceptance in the RD pool. Aghh, It’s so frustrating to have to wait for three more months of knowing other prospective applicants will be polishing their applications and studio tests… its agonizing.

What did you choose to do for the home test if you mind me asking?

I would also expect since the arch school’s yield rate is so high, they don’t really weigh in ED too much, knowing most students will accept regardless of contractual obligations?? Idk just a thought

Did you find anything out?

Yes. Deferral is not automatic, but supposedly selective. That’s about all they told me. No specifics could be disclosed because the general CU admissions office has little input in admissions for art and architecture, it’s all about the profs, and contacting professors about admissions will surely backfire as I see it.

Interesting, that’s somewhat comforting. We’ll just have to wait until March.
