Hey everyone!
I was accepted into Cooper Union’s Engineering School and Carnegie Mellon’s School of Sciences.
My major in Cooper Union would most likely be the general engineering and at CMU my major would most likely be mathematical sciences.
As far as my occupation goes I’ve been leaning towards working for a bank and joining the financial world. I was just wondering which school you guys think would better prepare me/help me attain this goal and why.
Thanks!

If you’re thinking of a career in financial services - such as a quant - then math sciences might be a better way to get started than engineering.

Though isn’t Cooper Union in NYC and don’t a lot of banks come down?
Since there’s less competition with the smaller class size and since its in NYC would Cooper be a better option?
People are saying CMU also because of the business school and prestige. What are your opinions?

CMU is not a large school, so class size will be reasonable. (Granted Cooper is tiny.)
Certainly banks hire people with engineering degrees, but I don’t know that banks would be actively recruiting at an engineering-only school, even if it is in NYC. Check online for information about Cooper’s career fair to give you an idea of what kind of companies recruit there.

Unless you really want to be in NYC, or want to pursue a career in engineering, I don’t see much advantage of selecting Cooper over CMU.
most certainly you will need grad school work to accomplish a good job in finance. I would say there are better schools for math/business and finance certainly.
