Cooper Union Internship vs CMU SAMS

I got into a few programs, trying to make my mind up on which to go to, anyone have past experiences ?
program is more "prestigious" ?
anyone have any ideas?

bump......

i've only heard of SAMS so yeah...

Summer Internship

definitely SAMS... It's a nation program while cooper union is only for NYC kids.

hmm. if you could get something good out of a research internship i say go. i think SAMS isn't too challenging, and especially if you can enter competitions like siemens and intel then do the research.

SAMS is not what everyone thinks it is. A research internship is far better.

I'd say it would be a harder decision if you were choosing between the internship and AP/EA, but like others have mentioned, SAMS just isn't all that challenging. Sure, if you haven't taken the SAT yet, the test prep at SAMS may give a significant enough boost to your score that the program is worthwhile (not to mention the great college experience at CMU), but studying for SAT's is also something that you can do on your own. It's a bit harder to do intense research solo ;).

Cooper Union. Bet it's more rigorous; bet it's known nationally even if just NYC students; and bet it doesn't hurt if applying there for undergraduate program later. Do you have particular focused science/engineering interests? Do the research projects interest you? I think it's harder to get research experience onto your resume.

Thanx for the help, just put my deposit for CMU SAMS today.
