Hey guys,

I am an international student who will be applying to the Cooper Union for the Development in Sceince and Art, NY. I am aware that the acceptance rate is 7.5%, so I was wondering whether good subject test scores can get you in even if your SAT scores aren't as high as required. I will be applying for chemical engineering. I would be glad if any of you could help.

Why should they accept an applicant with a lower SAT score and good SAT subject scores when they have numerous applicants to choose from with extremely high SAT scores AND extremely high SAT subject scores?

Also, bear in mind that those SAT scores include the scores for Art and Architecture students, whose admission is much more heavily weighted towards the home test. The average SAT scores for engineering admits should be significantly higher.

thanks for your comments guys.

by good SAT scores, i mean scores in excess of 2000 and subject test scores in excess of 700 in math 2 and chemistry. Considering these scores, is it worth applying?
