I was recently admitted to both Cornell and Cooper Union and it seems I'm having trouble deciding between the two. I live about a half an hour away from Cooper Union and love the area and the proximity. I thought that getting into CU for art was in itself a deciding factor but, after having a chat with a Cornell rep, the ivy seems all the more alluring! what are your thoughts? seems I'm between a rock and a hard place!

Is Cooper Union still free? If so, I’d recommend that.

When did you get the news from Cooper Union? My S is waiting for the result now. Did you get a mail from Cooper?

CU called me about two days ago, they usually send out phone calls if accepted, but a friend of mine found out through the mail. I was told acceptances went out in the mail two days ago also.

Thanks for your information.
Actually, My S is still waiting for the news from CU by now. No phone call from them and no mail yet. I think it means my S couldn’t get in.
Congrat on your acceptance.~!

Dude, CU is amazing. especially for art. Many would give an arm and a leg to go there. Don’t miss out on this chance because of an Ivy fetish.

I know two people who went to CU. The girl who went for art LOVES it. Being in NYC was a huge advantage for an artist and she really had a good time there. The other girl was in engineering and hated it (said there wasn’t anything to do) so she transferred. I got accepted to the engineering school and decided not to go because of my acquaintance’s experience. I think it comes down to if you are a hip, big-city loving person you can make it at cooper union. Everybody I talk to says the college doesn’t offer things to do so you have to find it yourself in Manhattan. So, if you can find things to do in NYC and can make friends well in a small group then go to CU.
