um.. why do we have to send them? it's not required is it?

it's required for financial aid. when you fill out a country of citizenship other than US, you have to confirm that you are a permanent resident, not international student.

sakuragirl, really, for berkeley?
PR is needed for financial aid? where did u hear that? I read that even people with certain kinds of visa (like H1, H4) are eligible for in-state tuition. Here: http://registrar.berkeley.edu/Residency/legalinfo.html
please tell me if it's true that i need to mail in the copy of green card.
thanks

i thought you only needed the alien registration number

um, see i wouldn't get in-state tuition anyways b/c i live in KY. i think it's true tho that you HAVE to send in copies of your green card. for example, on the financial aid form for cornell, they specifically ask you to mail in a copy of the front and back of the green card. a lot of my friends have already mailed in their copies. i'm just worried that they'll consider it late if i mail it past the deadline...

i dunno anything about financial aid, but my aunt asked me to copy my greencard, so i assume you do need it.

don't ask, don't mail,

most schools didn't ask, except for cornell and mit

yea, and the school i'm applying in Cornell
