Is it right that core courses provide higher weighted gpa than elective courses? If this is the case, why would anyone select elective courses in high school? Any thoughts?

Ummmmmmm

I think that varies greatly from school to school.

Elective courses are generally there to satiate a possible interest you may have. Also it may be there to provide you with information that pertains to a potential college major.
Generally, also, elective courses are easy as pie...If you need a GPA boost or feel like being lazy in a class.

But thats a really vague question because elective courses could also mean like AP Art History, and I'd imagine that'd be weighted as much as an AP core class.

Basically I think electives are there to appeal to your own personal interests and that would be the benefits of taking an elective course.
