NYU has this program called MAP for CAS students. It’s basically a full 4 year program where you have to take a variety of courses, kind of like in high school where (Stern, Tisch, etc…) Here’s the requirements: (keep in mind, you can get out of these requirements with AP/IB credit)

If you’re taking a B.A, you’ll have to go through Writing the Essay for sure, if you’re taking a B.S at poly, you’ll have to go through two General Engineering courses that’ll rip your soul out

Hey guys, I got this too! Do you guys know if this for sure means that I wasn’t accepted to CAS though (and I just won’t find out until later)? Thanks!

Oh. Hm, that’s a little frustrating, just because I don’t know if my parents will let me go now that it’s not even to the initial school I applied to. Did people who actually got into CAS find out today as well?

so like many of you got the early admission email but i wanted to know if it means that i got denied from CAS or they are still considering me:
The admissions committee at New York University has asked me to provide you with advance notice of your admission decision, which will arrive officially before April 1. I am pleased to share that you have been admitted to the Core Program in Liberal Studies at NYU. Congratulations!

Please know that we did consider you for admission to the College of Arts and Science. We will share more detailed information about the Core Program, as well as information about financial aid (if you applied and qualify for assistance), when we provide your official admission decision before April 1. In the meantime, please feel free to peruse our Liberal Studies viewbook to learn about the Core Program.

It says we did consider you and then doesn’t clarify so i guess that mean i did not get in then? I feel more disappointed than happy that i got accepted since i wasn’t good enough to get into CAS

Apparently, there are a number of reasons that you can be accepted to the Liberal Studies program. It is possible that they think you would do better in smaller discussion based classes with a liberal arts curriculum. It is also possible that you have one component missing from your application that made it so they couldn’t put you in CAS.
I’ve read that highly qualified candidates have been accepted to the Core Program rather than their original choice, so I don’t think that being accepted into the Core Program means you’re not as good of a student as those in CAS or Tisch.
