Core curriculum

i know more than a few LACs have core curriculum requirements that force a student to take several courses in math and sciences.

does amherst have such programs?
ideally I would just take straight poli sci and IR classes and no math/science requirements.

Amherst has no core requirements at all (which would rock for a math-scarred humanities student like myself).

To clarify a bit: Amherst does not have a core curriculum (its core curriculum was abolished in approximately the mid 1960's). Nor does Amherst have any distribution requirements.

You've asked this question about several schools and you've finally hit paydirt. The other LACs which have (almost) no requirements are Brown, Grinnell, Vassar, and Hamilton.

Amherst has only 1 required class, a freshman seminar of about 15 students in a variety of topics that is supposed to be writing-intensive to help prepare you for college writing. They are in a variety of topics and disciplines.

thanks alot, amherst is now even more amazing to me.
