Are most of the core curriculum courses taken freshman year? Is there a typical sequence for the courses you take each year?

If you are a Columbia College student, the only courses that you must take freshman year are Lit Hum, Frontiers, and University Writing. You then take CC sophomore year. The rest of the Core can be taken anytime during your 4 years.

I finished all my Core classes after sophomore year; it leaves more flexibility later on for major requirements and elective classes.

Soulofheaven, when do most people take art and music hum?

soph year.

it's almost impossible to get into them as a freshman unless you are an athlete (early registration time)

Cool, thanks :)

I took both art and music hum sophomore year, but it is not unusual to see people taking them junior/senior year.

In fact, when I took art hum, most people in my class were juniors and seniors.

Don't forget that most people take the swim test maybe the day before graduation...
