From what I've heard from a few people who graduated Columbia College, the core curriculum is harder than that of any other ivy league schools. Can anybody who goes to Columbia College or SEAS or graduated from either tell me how much work they make you do with core classes, and how you were able to survive them.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

First, the Core Curriculum is the following:
Literature Humanities (2 semesters)
Contemporary Civilization (2)
Art Humanities (1)
Music Humanities (1)
Major Cultures Distribution (2)
Frontiers of Science (1)
Other Science Distribution (2)
University Writing (1)
Foreign Language (4, or equivalent)

If you do about 2 Core classes per semester, you'll finish in four years just fine. Most people finish the Core in 3. SEAS students only do about 1/3 of the humanities Core (Lit Hum OR CC, Music Hum OR Art Hum, no Foreign Language rec), but they have other crazy science requirements to fill up the gap in the general education.

The Core classes aren't meant to be difficult, but you do read a lot in all of them and they are conducive to thought (in principle). You'll probably end up reading more stuff in your Core classes than you will in most of your others, especially if you're a science major. I'm not sure if it's more -difficult- than the Cores of other Ivy Leage colleges, but it definitely has the most content, and is probably the most revised and perfected one, since Columbia College spends a lot of energy in its famed Core Curriculum.
