As a student entering the Elliot School for International Affairs, I'm curious as to exactly how many credits I need to fulfill for math and science. I looked at the core requirement guide, but it displayed the category as "math/science-6 credits." Does this mean 6 credits in math courses as well as 6 credits in science, or just 6 altogether (ie 3 in science and 3 in math, 6 in science, etc.)

This probably makes no sense haha. So if somebody could just explain how the core requirements work, I'd really appreciate it. =]

all ESIA students are required to fufill 6 credits in math and/or science…what that means is that u can either do all 6 credits in math…or all 6 credits in science…or 3 in math and 3 in science…so basically u can take 1 math class and 1 science class and be done…or jus 2 math classes and be done…or 2 science classes and be done…

also, gw will recognize a 4 or 5 on the ap exam for any math and/or science class which would fufill the requirement in either class

Pat, instead of AP exam scores, can a student take a placement test to pass it and fulfill the requirement?

no…the placement exams which you are required to take for the math classes only puts you in certain tier level classes based on ur performance, even if u do extremely well on the placement exams, it only places u in a higher math, regardless u still have to take the class and the placement tests cannon exempt u from any classes

Looking @ the ESIA IA curriculum options for the Math/Science 6 credit requirements - there are “many” different options listed and it says to only select “2” courses. They list many options such as Stats, Logic, etc. to fulfill the requirment as well as the standard math/sciences. It looks as though you ban do want you wish as long as you choose from those options.
