metal pawn would you mind either posting your stats or pming me. I’m just curious as to how competitive this really is. anyone who else who got in basic stats would be much appreciated!

@thechance I’m still waiting to hear from arts&sciences in florida! maybe its alphabetical or something? I will not be a happy camper if I have to wait till monday or tuesday to hear the inevitable bad news.

did not receive the CAS scholarship. 2380 sat and valedictorian. yay

Son’s stats here:

everyone should chill and wait it out till the admissions formal letters appear with your financial aid packages. Only less than 2% of applicants will get these signature scholarships and yet a quarter of the matriculated class will have these top stats. So sorry for the deserving students who didn’t get one so far in this tough economy but most of you will have multiple offers regardless to consider. Congrats to all the winners and may I urge you to attend an accepted students day no matter what your leanings are till then. The day in April made all the difference to our son and he turned down better offers financially. Room and board at Vanderbilt is the equivalent or less expensive than the full price we would pay at our honors colleges in-state.

Just got my notification (I did get one of the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarships) last night by email. The email said the recipients will get information in the mail within the next few days. I did not expect to get this. At all. But I’m so happy!!! Started crying at work when my mom called to tell me. Good luck to everyone!

Reflection
•Strengths: essays, courseload
•Weaknesses: volunteering
•Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Luck. I was deferred from Harvard in the fall and that’s what all the accepted people said… i know for a fact there are a ton of qualified people who didnt get this scholarship. it’s just odds. there are tons of good schools and you can find success anywhere. congrats to the other winners, i look forward to meeting some of you hopefully!

No e-mail at our house yet. Anyone else still waiting?

Did you folks receive an email either way? recipients and those who did not receive the awards?

Yes, emails were sent to both groups. From what I have read, recipients of the awards will also get a letter thru the mail as well.

Congrats to everyone who got the Cornelius scholarship as well! I received a congratulatory note yesterday but can’t say whether I’ll be able to attend or not until they send me my EFC.
I recieved the email about 24 hours ago and I’m an international student.

He/She might need more than just tuition considering that Vanderbilt costs close to 60k per year.

I’m still waiting for an email as well…

Still waiting as well. I intend on calling mid-afternoon tomorrow if I still haven’t heard. I have a lot of things that I need to do that are dependent upon the outcome of this, which unfortunately isn’t looking so great.

2240 SAT
800, 800, 780 on three SAT IIs
35 ACT
4.7 w, rank 1
11 APs, all 4s and 5s
National Merit Finalist

I still have not received an email. I am wondering if I could have been taken out of the scholarship’s selection pool, as I was picked as an alternate for the Carrell Family Scholarship.

I have yet to receive any form of email either…wondering if I should call them or just wait it out for an email…

give them a call or send an email to your Vandy regional rep. I remember once our son got zip response from Emory and turned out they had lost his application for merit scholarships and didn’t even consider him. And Wm and Mary had put him in a finalist pool but didn’t notify him somehow or another. Better to pursue in my opinion to find out the outcome at every college. hang in there.

I contacted them, but no response yet. I’m just thinking at this point that they must have forgotten my application altogether or something :(

Well, we’ll see, but since I didn’t receive a letter in the mail, I’m assuming I did not get the scholarship. Oh well! :)

I don’t think everyone who won the scholarship got the letter yet - I didn’t even though I won it - so don’t give up hope yet!

Chance: You ae not alone. No emails for DS either. Do you live in the SE? I’m wondering if the notifications are being sent out according to region, and the southeast is the last to know…?
