Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship

Has anyone heard back from the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship yet? I know it may still be too early, but dying to know.

Sometime in March, chill.

OP, you won’t hear back until early March at the earliest - just relax for now.

I thought it would be in late January. The Ingram committee already sent the interview notice as of Jan 15th as you are aware from other thread. I wish my daughter to get it but who knows.

Are there interviews for the CV scholarship? I thought only Ingram Scholarship requires interview.

The Ingrams are decided much earlier than the other merit scholarships. Their finalists are interviewed on campus. Everyone stay strong, and please support your son or daughter emotionally. Talk positively about their safety college and what you know is your financial match. Attach to your match college. Merit invites are like being struck by lightening. As parents, these students look to you for perspective. Remember that once admitted to a college and matriculating, they run for the roses again, interview again on a new flat playing field --creating their lives and selecting their majors and seeking summer work and experiences.

There are no interviews for the CVs.

Keep your eyes on the long race. Our sons will likely be attending state colleges for graduate education and one of our sons will likely be going to night school for graduate school while working full time. When you select your undergraduate path, look ahead at their financial needs for graduate school with a realistic view of what you can offer your children for the second round of education…professional studies are expensive, too.

Well, we should be hearing about the CV scholarship by next week, right? Very anxious to hear!

I think the website said mid-march

And just out of curiosity, how often do mosaic invites receive CV? I’m asian and got invited to mosaic, so I’m just wondering if that’s any indication of likelihood of CV.

I don’t think there has been anything written about Mosaic invites and CVs. Many Mosaic invites will get amazing financial aid based on family Cost of Attendance figures. Many Mosaic invites are not going to get need aide. I think it is likely that the Mosaic invitations exceed the three major merit category scholarship numbers. Vanderbilt like other top schools really does have a primary focus on need aid because Vandy is need blind and doesn’t put loans in the need packages. congrats on your mosaic invite…hope you can make it. if so, some of the hosts are likely to help answer questions.

Their website does say “mid-march” for CV notification. But FYI, if you google you’ll see that the Vandy Admission Blog announced that they were sending notifications on March 5th 2013 (last year). So we could hear as early as Wednesday. I would keep an eye on their blog as they will probably announce it. Here’s a link to last year’s March 5 Vandy admissions blog post announcing CV notification. <a href=“Guest Blog: Merit Scholarships Update | The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University”>http://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2013/03/guest-blog-merit-scholarships-update/

Do you know what date they’ve sent the emails in years before 2013? Has it typically been the same day of the week?

Edit: Did some looking around and found the thread from a few years ago. Here’s how it’s gone the last 5 years.

2009: March 5th (Thursday)
2010: March 5th (Friday)
2011: March 7th (Monday)
2012: March 9th (Friday)
2013: March 5th (Tuesday)

Seems like 2012 was the outlier. In every year other than that, they’ve sent them on March 5th or the first weekday after March 5th.

Did it always say mid-March was the release date in those though, or did it say early March?

They will be on Spring Break next week. I wonder if that means the decision will be delayed until the following week.

@HateBeinSober, could those dates be when notifications started going out?

Or do the notifications all get sent on the same day at the same time?

Near as I can tell they’ve said the same thing about mid-march for the past few years. Not sure if they all send out at the same time, but everybody gets an email eventually whether they got it or not.

It’s alreadddddyyyyyyy March 7th now! Still haven’t heard back….

Still waiting here too

And the admissions -_-

Same angst here. There’s like NO chance I got CV, but for some reason it’s killing me - probably because they notified by March 5 in almost all of the years except 2014. Likeeeee I justtt want to know.

I don’t know what kind of people get CV . I am just the most normal kid with normal stats.
