I called and my D called separately and we were both told it was only rejection emails. The FA advisor stated that winners were notified by email, snail mail and implied most were called as well.
I emailed them and they sent me a copy of a rejection letter. In that letter it said āIn addition, we are continuing the process of selecting scholarship recipients for a small number of other merit-based awards. These award recipients will be notified by April 1.ā Do you think this is just in reference for the curb and others?
Not a dandy moment for Vandy!
No, I am not at all impressed.
@gg0810 I would assume that means Curb/Carrell/etc.
No hope now for folks who did not get any notification.Looks like I wont be going to Vandy.Good luck to all
@prodesse Iām with youānot impressed.
From what others have posted, it seems that Vanderbilt knew of the issue with (not) informing applicants of the rejections, but didnāt remedy it.
Definitely not dandy for Vandy! @srk2017
Bummer oh well
I also emailed yesterday and got an apology this morning. They said they would resend the rejection (at least to my son, not sure about others). I told them that based on this board, it may be that they missed more than they sent. No way to tell, but very few on this thread reported hearing back that they didnāt get it and it seems a lot of people were still waiting. And, the scholarship portal makes no mention, just that my son applied. At least at WashU the portal said everyone who got it was notified. But they also messed up in timing and some kids heard from classmates during school. So far the ELITES are batting .500 on screwing up communications; whereas the non-elites have been perfect.
I emailed Vandy and have not yet heard anything back.No rejection yet
At the very least they could put the rejection letter on the portals.
āAt the very least they could put the rejection letter on the portalsā. That would be best, or like WashU at least put a portal message stating everyone who got it has been notified. They were also late in notifying rejections, leading to some kids finding out from classmates during school that did get it. Not comfortable for those kids. Vandy didnāt mess up on timing, they just totally missed telling many if not the majority at all. And now seem to be sending them individually as people ask. I know this is tough time of year for admissions, but donāt they do this every year? Is it that difficult to get it right?
Hi, I am new to this thread, and I applied to the CV scholarship but havenāt heard back. Do you guys think they may have sent out rejection emails to those students who are admitted to Vanderbilt but did not receive the scholarship and did not email the students who both got rejected from CV and Vanderbilt? I know this may be very unlikely but I canāt help but feel that thereās is some sort of hidden message.
D18 received a rejection email for the CV and the Chancellor BUT it said other scholarships were still being decided (she also applied for the Curb Leadership) and it said nothing about her regular decision application. Itās my understanding those decisions will not be released until the last week of March.
@Lebronjamesisbad - I donāt think there is a hidden message. My son did not get the CV, he did not get notified. I sent an email and they apologized and then sent the email. They just messed up, no hidden pattern.
Called today and was informed that I did not get it.All acceptances have been emailed.Only rejections had an issue
I do not want to instill false hope if the above replies are true, but I received an email today that I did indeed receive the Cornelius Vanderbilt! So, not all those who didnāt receive emails last wednesday (I was in this group who did not receive anything last week) are rejections!
@Nzb2018 congratulations, that is great news. Did you ask for you decision or did they email it to you without contacting them?
@Nzb2018 Did you apply for Blair school of music?
@oPhilippos @thesoutherngirl Like all things college, race and income play very big roles in these types of scholarshipsā¦ My friend who was a finalist for the Ingram this year didnāt receive itā¦ Neither did the only other white girl in his group of 10. (We do not know who the other 9 finalists were)ā¦ Iām not saying that race deters one from being able to get one of these prestigious scholarships but thereās no way you can say it doesnāt play a role.
As far as the other scholarship, it is literally based upon diversity and ethnic background. A girl form my school got admitted with Cās on her transcript and a 29 on her ACT and was invited to multicultural dayā¦ Coincidence? Maybe the Cornelius is based off of academic endeavors but I know income and race play a roleā¦ I didnāt mean that offensivelyā¦ just trying to save some future applicants some time. Good luck to you in the college wishes.
