the classes wont be that bad cuz freshman wont regester until we do...plus the apartments have kitchens and private bathrooms (I think) and although its pretty far, i've accepted that it could be really great! come on...no RAs (or so i think!)

ok, fine, sexy has VERY "valid" questions lol...

to answer the homegirl's question:

Incoming Transfer Students: You can opt to live in a Transfer Student Program residence (the Hasbrouck Community for the 2007-2008 academic year), Lyon Hall (houses transfer and continuing women only), one of the West Campus Houses, a themed living and learning community Program House or one of Cornell's cooperative living houses. If you prefer to live in any of the other residence halls on west campus or in Collegetown, your building and room will be assigned to you.

Question: if we live in the apartments, how is parking if we drive to class. Granted, I dont mind walking to class, but once it gets cold out, that far of a walk will be miserable. Is it reasonable to even drive central campus?

you can't really park on central campus at all, but i think first year students get a free bus pass

are transfer students considered first year students? lol
how would we get from far apartments to class in the cold? ***...
could we change dorms after a semester or something?

sexy! u are from ny! lol...deal with the cold! you are used to it :p

How would you get from far apartments to class in the cold?

You would walk.

I'm from Maine, I went to the University of Maine last year. But, that doesnt mean you dont get cold. I tell you when the windchill makes it feel as though its in the negatives and you have to walk twenty minutes it sucks.

i meant all first year students (new incoming students) to the university...not actuall first years lol although i am not positive on the bus pass, its just something i've heard

nyc is not the same thing as ithaca, just so you know (weather wise)

Guys - come on. You'll be fine. I grew up in Wa state where it sleets, rains, snows, and gets in the minus's all winter. I swear to god you can actually walk to classes in the snow. It won't kill you. ;)

what weather is worst, bowdoin college or cornell? lol

Snow doesnt scare me, lol. It's the negative wind chills that do! Up at school this year there were a couple weeks when temps hovered around zero /w wind chills hitting as low as the -20's, now thats what sucks. It really makes you not want to go outside. Sad thing is where I went to school--Maine--the temps are comparable to Cornell and honestly a long walk with it being that cold out is not too enticing. Regardless, I'm just happy to have gotten in Cornell and if I have to trudge a couple miles freezing my ass off im okay with that(I'll just stock up on longjohns). If I do get stuck in the Apt's atleast their nice and aside from it being in a s-h-i-t-i location they are better than a dorm (This is just what I've seen from the pics, I'm going to visit next week)

**** what word did u use?

yay sexy123 another human ecology person! whats your major!

So 80% of the transfers will be housed in the hasbrouck apartments? Wow, that really sucks, being the one thing I didn't like about my current school is the fact that it's not the traditional dorm experience... I live in an apartment dorm. I was really hoping I'd be able to get into a typical dorm on west, but it seems thats basically impossible! AH! I don't know what to do now.

Re: housing. One of the several reasons I ended up not applying to Cornell was their current shortage of housing. Even freshman and returning students are ****ed from what I hear as there hasn't been enough room and the only houses left are usually African/language houses. ? Transfers get a raw deal regarding housing at most universities, but be glad Cornell is at least placing transfers together in some sort of apartment complex.

can trasnfers get singles?
or live with someone that they already know that goes to cornell?
where can you see pics/vidoes/virtual of the college, dorms?

um, it says on their website:
Transfer students will receive their housing assignments in mid to late July. All transfer students are guaranteed housing as long as they submit their housing applications by July 1. Those who submit after the deadline date will be offered housing based upon availability.
