How you doin'?

Application sent. Not doing too well.

Since I’ve hit submit on the common app, every time it crosses my mind, I further realize how unrealistic my chances are. lol

I hope you didn’t forget to pick a college.

And I hope you didn’t forget to submit your supplementary materials.

Edit: Anyone who doesn’t do those things enjoys the admit rate of 0%.

Nope, those are taken care of. haha

AEM at CALS.

I want to see the stats of everyone though. I’ll get mine together to make everyone else feel better about their chances. =)

White male from Massachusetts for AEM.

ACT: 30 (within the middle 50%, but low enough so it’s probably mostly sports recruits)

SAT II: 790 U.S. History (woot!)

AP: 5 U.S. History, 4 English Language and Comp, and three more tests coming up in the spring

Top 13% of class (yea, I know)

I also have taken three classes at a local community colleges in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Psych (A-, A, A respectively)

Extracurricular bullet points:

I have an eBay business I started last year. I had $17,000 of profit last year. That’s kind of impressive, right? I wrote my essay about paying my taxes for the first time, and how it affected me (incorporating the details of the business).

My real job is working at a nursing home as an activities coordinator.

I also was the lead petitioner to ban smoking on my town’s beaches. I was fed up with the cigarette butts in the sand, so I took it before town officials, community newspapers, etc. The town voted on it and voted 64% to make my town first in the state to fine smoking on the beach. Funny story about that… Just before I sent in the application, I looked at the requirement grid and saw CALS wants people “with a demonstrated interest in agriculture and the environment”. So maybe they’ll like this. lol

I’m a volunteer with the Mass. ACLU (testified at the state house on an issue, frequent petitioner, etc.)

I serve on a fifteen member re-election committee for my state rep. That takes up a lot of time.

I’m a student pilot. That’s kind of different!

The rest is probable standard stuff. DECA, tutoring little kids, mock trail captain, etc.

^ Damn, you’re in. I have no chance compared to you guys. I suck at life+hate CC.

I’m working on my essays and recommendations now. Honestly, I just decided that I’m probably going to apply ED. I’m not sure of my chances, but whatever!

Congrats on all your accomplishments everyone, you should be proud.

I’m not trying to be pessimistic or anything but I certainly wouldn’t say either of you are “in” at Cornell. You’ve got shots like everyone else, but I would EXPECT admission.

That having been said, you do have fairly strong applications and as such do have a decent shot. I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

I am trying to get both of my essays corrected by my teachers. Once that’s done, I will send it in. At the moment, it’s not looking so good. I still feel my essays are awful. Good luck to everyone and wish me luck!

umm, decent chances, but nothing to warrant strong expectations. I would suggest working hard on essays as well as test scores for those of you who haven’t finished test-taking.

You guys all visit? I drove there from Massachusetts and it was the funniest experience. To get to one of most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the country, I had to pass through some of the biggest cow country I’ve ever seen. Fifteen minutes outside of Ithaca, which is a cool college town, it looked like Dukes of Hazard.

“You guys all visit? I drove there from Massachusetts and it was the funniest experience.
I drove through Amish country when I moved in. That was interesting…

Yup, applying early to Cornell.

And looking over some of the other kids in this thread that are doing so as well…I hope not many of you are applying to Human Ecology.

So I just got the email from them saying that they had received my application, along with the instructions to activate my applicantID (to check the status of the app).

On the page talking about what you can do with the account now that you’ve applied, the final line is:

"Once you are admitted, your ApplicantID can be used for additional new student online services including applying for housing, dining, and more. "

I like the sound of that… lol

Lol. I’m surprised no one’s been facetious and called to ask about that.

I guess technically it should read “If” but I suppose they’re trying not to sound like ******bags.
