Cornell 2014 Rolling Admission (Cals, ILR, Hotel)

sapphireblizzard did you get deferred ED or just apply regular? congrats!!

YAY I got my acceptance letter from CALS today
I live in Arizona.

I was so surprised. Wasn’t expecting to hear anything until April. What a nice b’day gift :-). I applied RD everywhere btw.

Congrats sapphire! Has anyone else heard from ilr? 2 of my friends have heard from cals and hotel already but I’ve gotten nothing

Hi guys; thanks! i’ll post a few stats to answer your questions.

Location: Central Jersey.
Applied: Regular Decision to ILR
SAT scores: 2260. Super-scoring makes it 2300.
Sat subject tests: lit (750) and either math or bio M. (i don’t remember which 2 of the 3 i took that i sent out- 730).
Rank: 2
Ethnicity: Asian
AP courses: my school only offers four, but I’ve tacked on a few more through self-studying to compensate for this, and received 5’s on all of them. I believe this was noted in the Additional Info section of the app, where I explained the academic rigor of my courses.
Counselor recommendations: pretty good
Teacher recommendations: phenomenal (my debate coach and my AP Lang teacher)
Essays: excellent (wrote about ballet injury/the conception of strength in common app and how debate + my involvement in 30 hour famine = how i decided my major/why i wanted to go to ILR)
Interview: none.
Extra-curricular activities: a bit too many to list here, but my primary activities were Lincoln Douglas debate, Music (vocal + percussion), heavy church service, NHS vice president, counselor for three music camps (volunteer/charity)
Hooks: none

PM me any questions/ask me if I forgot to answer any questions. Best of luck to you all!

Does anyone know if rejections are being sent out to CALS applicants? Has anyone heard of rejections in the last 2-3 days?

No, rejects are sent regular.

Forgive my ignorance but what does CALS stand for?

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Don’t be embarrassed, I applied to this college and it took me forever to figure out that the people on cc shorten it to CALS.:)

got into CALS :)

woot! got my ILR acceptance last night (i live in NYC). yayzorz.
you all should be getting your acceptances now, too!

^^^^ I applied to Ilr and i live in NYC as well. My question is did ur status change on the cornell website?

hey guys,

did anyone hear from the hotel school??

nope, my app status hasn’t changed. it still says my app is under review.
whatevs, the letter is enough

If you applied to CALS and didnt hear back…when other ppl did…should you assume you were rejected or waitlisted?
in other words…if you were accepted…will you definitely get a letter? or are only a small number of letters mailed out for CALS at this time?
thanks!

I got my letter yesterday from Hotel School!!! I am SO excited!!!

@collegegirl20 - no! only a small number of letter are mailed out. Most people are accepted March31/April 1.
My app status has not changed as well - just the letter.

Is AEM rolling?

Clinegirl: how sure are you??

So its true that those who applied to CALS and didn’t hear still have a shot of getting in come april??

I live in Wisconsin and I recieved my letter today - I am so happy that I got into Cornell. I applied CALS - Biological Science.
