Cornell 2015 ED Hopefuls

you don’t have to apply for gt, right?

I heard that the limit some Ivy Leagues set for admissions is a maximum of two girls and two boys from any one school… Do you think there is any truth to this myth? Do you think that Cornell uses this “rule”?

^No that is absurd.

@ZaaraShazad
That is ridiculous because Cornell takes around 20 kids from my school, and according to the math from the myth, they would only take 4. And for some top private schools, an absurd amount of people are accepted into HYP, in just one year.

Absurd for sure

@allnycolleges Yes.

@cornelleded No. It’s a decision, same as accept, deny, defer, or waitlist.

Absurd for sure, my school sends 5-10 students to Stanford, 1-3 to Harvard, 1-3 to yale, 3-6 to Princeton, 6-12 to other ivies, 2-4 to MIT/Caltech, and many students to UC Berkeley/USC. Universities DO NOT have “quotas” like 2 boys and 2 girls; that’s absurd. I would think that they have a general number of students they take from each region.

I agree with MT8989
i’m pretty sure that Cornell doesn’t have a “quota” from each school. Cornell accepted 6 students from my school last year.

I don’t think you can get waitlisted for ED. The only options for ED are accept, deny, or defer.

^ Yeah, there is no waitlist for ED.

They have a sort of invisible quota in that they’re not going to accept like everyone who applies from your school, but generally it’s not one that would make a huge difference in their selection anyway.

^I think it really depends on the applicants. If 30 highly qualified kids applied from one school, and by highly, I mean highly, then they reserve the right to accept all of them. It really just depends.

@ MT8989 What school do you attend? Is it by chance with an IB program?

No, I wasn’t even aware that any schools on the Best Coast did IB.
