Cornell 2015 ED Hopefuls

@CommonerCoffee, I just laughed really hard at that post. HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHA! I have seen my friend access his decisions from schools and (he got rejected from Cornell but accepted to Harvard) the decision for him was very short. Perhaps a couple lines. And no “Congratulations”. I do not know what the accepted decision looks like. It could vary from year to year of course.

2 more days? Is this even real?

You can actually log in now to that page. It says something about when your application was submitted. But at least you get a semi-idea of what the page looks like…

No, it’s the Matrix.

@Tsk, why does your name already have “Cornell '15” on it lol?

cause somebody’s got confidence lolz :)

Omg…
2more days…
good luck to everyone!!! I hope to see you all next yr
andand I’ll promise if I get accepted I’ll post my stats…
If i get rejected… idk what i’m gonna do… sigh :(

@Kaziurra: How come inter-college transfers are difficult? Would it be difficult to transfer from CAS to engineering?

hello out there. I’ve been watching this thread for the last week and just read somewhere on cc about the cornell ed myth. Yes, they say they give an edge to ed applicants and they even said that at the info session. But even with that edge, rd may make more sense for a lot of people who don’t have any kind of hook. If anything like 1/2 of the ed acceptances are sport or other hooked admits, then everyone in the other 1/2 is with an extremely super strong pool of applicants, possibly giving them a harder chance ed than they would have had rd. The posts here at cc about the myth of unhooked cornell EDers having a better chance ed may be right. is it really a myth that ed gives an unhooked applicant a better chance at Cornell?
I hope everybody is lucky and gets in to the cornell college they want.

No, it makes more sense to ED to Cornell than RD. You forgot the part about RD having tons of those HYP super studs who soak up acceptances. If you look at any of the past decision threads (2014, 2013, etc) you will see that the RD pool tended to have higher SAT/ACT scores and GPAs - not to mention more impressive extracurriculars; many people who get into Cornell ED might not necessarily get in during the RD round (I wish I could run some kind of case study to confirm this though…).

Iceyman- I hope you are wrong, lol. Now you have me nervous. No athlete or hook here :)

mt - you may be right
but don’t forget that a lot of ed accepted stats you read about could be from the ball park 1/2 that gets in with a hook - and they tend to have lower stats, weaker ecs. looking at some of the threads about the cornell ed myth, I really think thee is a chance that unhooked people may have a better chance rd. but I could be wrong.

do you think its possible to infer that if you are NOT asked for your first marking period grades you are either rejected or accepted??

No (10char)

my friend got asked for those grades to a different school that she was wait-listed to

Do you have any idea what her grades were?

it wasn’t to cornell… it was tulane university in louisiana so it’s not a good comparison

I know but I feel like they only ask for grades if you are borderline and by then, rely on grades for the final decision. So, if they do, and you have straight A’s, then you’re in. That’s just my theory.

…Also off topic, but am I the only one here who still hasn’t received a pin? I emailed the address they said to email on the website but I’m starting to get nervous.
