^R u serious?? They will consider?? But in their mail they seemed so blunt and sure-footed…Was that senior from Cornell? How sure was he about this negotiation thing?? I earnestly pray and hope that they do.
Did they reply to your e-mail of appeal??

Hope Cornell understands my longing

^ I really hope to meet you guys. Well my parents earn less tahn 12000$ because of some personal reasons. And ya the senior is frm Cornell and says he pays only about 3000-4000./ Hope fully they’ll consider:-)

Anyone read this?

[Financial Aid Threatens Ivy Competition | The Cornell Daily Sun](http://cornellsun.com/node/28002)

Penn Director of Athletics Bilsky and Cornell coaches also fear that, with Harvard, Yale and Princeton able to offer such superior financial aid packages, it may draw students away from even looking at Cornell when looking at the Ivy League.

Finally, Cornell coaches pointed out that athletics is one area where students qualified to go to Harvard, Princeton, or Yale may decide to come to Cornell instead a decision that rarely happens outside athletics, the coaches agreed.

Hey, have u checked the following websites? I heard that they offer significant amount of international student loans: [International Student Loans Center - Student Loans for College Students](http://www.internationalstudentloan.com) [Financial Aid College Scholarship Search | IEFA](http://www.iefa.org) www.salliemae.com. These are loans though, so expect a significant debt. Most also require US cosigners. All the best! (:

@lockheed311: yes these loans usually ends in bitter consequences in the long run and most importantly, I think none of them are applicable for a student from Bangladesh. Thanks neway…
@adhikari:WOW! Ur senior may be damn good since he got in with such a huge financial need. I am pretty much overwhelmed with the verve that Cornell will not even budge their financial aid decision for us internationals. Still I am praying dt sth miraculous happens and they give us an offer. Btw, did u appeal to them yet? Did they reply to your e-mail of appeal?

I found out that I didn’t send in the Financial Aid application but only the CSS file in Oct. I will call Financial Aid office on Monday and hope I’ll still be eligible even though the deadline was Nov 1. I won’t be able to attend Cornell without the Aid.

not really … I will ask them about them after i get the package.

adhikari,
cornell’s yearly tuition is far beyond anything my parent’s combined income could support.
if i were to take out a loan from the bank, i would be (quite a bit) over $100,000 in debt by the time i graduate. I’m just weighing the chances of making that back with a cornell degree.
for ontarians, we can apply for osap, which i think can give about 10k a year (even for those studying in the us, i think).
plus there’s always the 4 months off in the summer to work, which could possibly pay for the following year’s food costs.
lavander, so are you thinking about going in spite of this?
also, do you know if we can deposit the $400 at cornell, and still apply to canadian schools (without cornell knowing), and if we get a good offer in may, then could we just accept and lose the $400? My mum thinks we can, but I thought that the $400 was a confirmation that we would for sure be attending cornell.

@hb9930
I’ve actually been thinking about this situation. I can’t even concentrate on my activities and homework since I received the e-mail. A few of my friends are telling me that the education from Cornell would eventually be worth it.

I’m really concerned about the fact that we’ll be in so much debt by the time we graduate, and it seems like federal/provincial loan can only afford less than 15K per year. And if I were to take a loan at the bank, I can only take out 10K/yr. That leaves me 30K left. My income from my part-time job, and parents’ contribution at the maximum could cover less that half of that.
I’m really unsure right now. But I really do wanna find other alternatives.

We have already gotten this far, yet Cornell still seems out of reach t__t

is it too late to apply for financial aid, if we’ve already been accepted?

Hello, everyone. I am counting the days until Cornell:) Does anyone know how to apply for financial aid? Some people are saying that the financial aid deadline passed in November…

Cornell University is pleased to provide financial aid, on a limited basis, to students who are not citizens of the United States. Beginning Fall 2010, financial aid funding that had been limited to Canadian and Mexican undergraduate students1 will be used for all international students. Applicants who have dual U.S. citizenship should follow the instructions for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.
NOTE: Financial aid is not available for international Spring 2011 transfer applicants.
To apply for international student financial aid, applicants should submit the following on time to receive full consideration:
the Cornell International Financial Aid Application
the 2011-2012 CSS PROFILE2
passport photocopy
custodial parent income documentation
non-custodial parent income documentation (if applicable)

the College Board Financial Aid Application for non-custodial parents (if applicable)
Deadlines are as follows:

11-12 Early Decision: Nov 1, 2010
11-12 Regular Decision: Jan 3, 2011

@everlastingwish that isn’t true. I know somebody rejected from ILR.

All Cornell applicants should watch this video ASAP

It’s so cool to meet someone with similar interests!

Ok, this is a question for all of your Freshman that applied ED to Cornell a year ago! How many of you were later accepted RD? Specifically to ILR? Did you decide to attend or had you chosen another school by then? S just got deferred and trying to make some sense here! Any insight welcome…THAnks!!

I second that question ^
