I know it is still early to discuss anything about fall transfer, as the results for 2014 Spring transfer is still not out yet. But anyways, based on my experience and the numerous rejection letters I have so far received, planning ahead is always a good practice!
I would like to invite anybody who is interested in transferring to Cornell in 2015 fall to share credentials and experiences so we could really make this thread a dynamic platform to get information from. In the end, no matter what the results are going to be, we'll all be glad to have shared this journey together.

Sorry it’s so long! I just want to get the best advice possible!

Id like to attend Cornell CALS AEM Program at Dyson. My high school performance was weak, mid 80s with a couple AP’s thrown in the mix. Decent SAT’s but not great. 570 reading, 610 Math. Did better senior year, 95 second semester, a 99.6 my last quarter of high school. Which is when I started applying myself. I go to a local Community College, I am going into my fourth semester. I have a 4.0 GPA through three semesters, I’ve also taken calc 1 and 2 at my community college to strengthen my course rigor. I am president of my schools investment club, containing 40 members. I am a Phi Theta Kappa member, I work as a marketing director for a real estate office agent, as well as a working at Banana Republic. I also ran cross country for my community college in the fall. My school also has a transfer agreement with Cornel CALS. What are my chances? Thanks.
@HIMYM17 if all of your credentials are law related, is there a reason why you’re not looking into ILR?
@HIMYM17 I don’t know how much weight Cornell puts into High School GPA/SAT score for transfer applicants but your app looks solid otherwise. Let us know how it goes for you!
I don’t think high school records are that important for transfer students, especially for sophomores. They say that you don’t have to take SAT again even if you are not happy with your scores.
Hi, I was just wondering what my chances are at transfering to Cornell and possibly CMU as a sophomore.
I am currently at UIUC studying Electrical engineer

GPA: 3.65
Extracurricular :activities Varsity Crew, Prefect, Varsity Basketball, leadership position in robotics
SAT: 2160 (math 770, reading 730, writing 660)
SATII math 770, physics 700

EC’s: Novice Crew Captain, ECE Student advancement committee Freshman rep.
I’m going to be taking intro to computings, intro to computer science, physics mechanics, and differential equations plus in the spring time. What are my chances…?
Why do you want to transfer? UIUC has a very good engineering program. I have an older D at CMU and an admit to computer engineering is a tough get as I’m sure Cornell is as well.
Could anyone chance me please?

Hello,
Is it required/recommended that we take a year-worth of college writing/english classs? If so, does only completing one by the end of freshman year hurt my chances?
@annwank
There’s no doubt that UIUC has a great engineering program. But I have trouble getting to like the sheer size of classes, student orgs and such. Nevertheless, it hasn’t truly become a globalized school yet, the majority of the students are still from Illinois.
@NoMoreDenials - Where do you go to school now?
@francisyu1012 I go to Emory in Atlanta, but I definitely prefer Cornell.
Hi everyone, please chance me to get into Cornell’s CALS AEM.
PS : I’m an international student. Will that hurt me? lol
HS GPA : 3.8
Community College GPA : 3.81 (should go out with a 3.83-3.84) Pretty low, yes, I know, but I have 70 credits.
Taken all the rigorous classes (Stats, Micro, Macro, Calculus I and II, intro to Business, English and Critical Reading and Writing English and every other classes. I don’t have a speech class but I do participate a lot in a speech competition. Will that help?)
SAT : None Taken (Not needed for transfer student :D)
Toefl : Taking soon, but I should probably score around 105-115.
Previous IELTS score : 7.5 (expired, so not submitting)
ECs :
-VP Finance of UNICEF, then became the Primary VP after a year. Changed all the internal structure of the club, created a reward system, had a lot of partnership with 6 different clubs on different occasions.
-Marketing Director at the student government. Increased membership by 3 folds in two weeks, and 4 folds by the next semester. (Biggest in over 3 years). Rebranded the image of the organization and even got compliments as one of the best Marketing Director by the College Council.
-Finance Director at the Investment Club. Fundraised enough money to send our members out on field trips to a hedge fund in the city for free! Created a new internal bookkeeping system for the club.
-Tons of Volunteering, hosting concert for foster kids, halloween party, poolside party.
-Fundraised for over $1300 in a year.
-Got a sponsorship for over $700 from the student government.
-Had my own business, donated all my profits back to some orphanages. Got around $3000 in profits after two years. (the currency made it look small in here, but that’s actually really big in my country).
-Working virtually in my dad’s shipping company. Improvised their CSR program, changed the way management work, currently overseeing the new contingency plan.
-Interned in a heavy machinery company. Didn’t really do anything besides putting all the survey stats up to excel and deducing the conclusion out of it.
-Phi Beta Lambda Nationals, 2 years in a row, placed in the top ten for every category I joined.
-Phi Beta Lambda States, 2 years in a row, placed top 5 in every category.
-Honor Society for getting a high GPA.
-Went to some remote village ever since I was in middle school as a volunteer.
-Tutored Mathematics to a disabled, middle aged woman
-Volunteered in an online site as a translator, got three awards for it.
-Fluent in four languages : Chinese, English, Korean and my first language.
Financial Aid Asked : None
Prof Recommendation : probably one from my Business professor and one from either my Mathematics (top 6% in my Calculus II class) or my English teacher (probably top 5% in the class as well) or maybe from the Dean of the Business Department.
Others :
Race : Asian
Gender : F
Income bracket : ($800,000 - $1,000,000)
Hook : First generation college, came from a SEA country, um, no Financial Aid asked. Have a lot of community service stuffs that is done in a business way, fluent in four languages. Incredibly young. Graduated high school at 15, got into college at 16, and is transferring out to a four year university as a junior at 18!
Do I have a chance? I know that my GPAs will definitely hurt me but, do I still have a chance? From what I’ve read about Cornell AEM, I should have a pretty high match with the school.

Good luck to everyone else! In addition, I’m also wanting to join the ROTC program at Cornell if I get in. Any thoughts?
For transfers, financial aid items aren’t due until March 15th, right? I already submitted my FAFSA, and my CSS should be done by the priority deadline tonight. Just not looking forward to IDOC. Also, does anyone know if the EFC from FAFSA is anywhere near accurate? I just hope not to be paying more than about $25,000 if I get in. My parents income is slightly over $100K.
Someone chance me?

Hi, I am wondering what my chances are at transfering to Cornell and some other Ivies as a junior/sophomore.

EC: investment fund, art council and admissions volunteer.
What are my chances of applying to Cornell CALS as a junior transfer?
Thank you!
my concern is that I saw they take “extremely limited” junior transfers into AEM, so,…i am considering applying to ILR instread of AEM… any suggestions? ILR’s prelaw track with a concentration on econ is attractive to me…
@transfertwice don’t apply to ILR just because you don’t think you’ll get in to AEM. Write a good essay for AEM and you’ll be fine, you have the numbers
