@transferrwice- what’s wrong with WUSTL? I hear it’s a very good school.
^agree. WUSTL is a fantastic school. I know kids from my Ds high school that are hoping for an acceptance.
Hello, all. I intend to apply for mathematics major (with concentration in mathematical physics).
My stats:
High school: A decent public school
GPA: 3.16 (Miserable considering how core courses average far lower. I have 12 C’s, a D, and an F. Yes, an F.)
Extracurricular: Academic Decathlon (5th place in California, and thus the United States), chess (a few awards in scholastic competitions)
SAT: 2250 (math 800, reading 740, writing 710)
SATII: Math II 800, Physics 800
11 APs with 5’s in 9 of them, a 4 and a 3 (those two were self-studied micro, and macroeconomics, respectively.)
College: A known engineering school in Northeast. Currently majoring in physics.
GPA: 4.0
Classes: My AP credits granted by my institute allowed me to take an unusual amount of mathematics courses. But I believe it could be my weakness as I have only one graded coursework in humanities. I read that A&S applicants are expected to have a liberal arts education.
Math: Multivariate Calculus, Intro. DiffEQ, Advanced Calculus, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, Foundations of Applied Mathematics.
Physics: Honors Physics I, II, Theoretical Mechanics
Chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry I
Computer: Computer Science I, Fortran Programming
Etc: General Psychology, Origin of Life (interdisciplinary science course)
Current semester courses: Electrodynamics, Intro. to Mathematical Physics, Intro. to Cell/Molecular Biology, Intro. to Logic, Scriptural Wisdom (a philosophy course on religions)
EC: Undergraduate laboratory facilitator, a mentor for an introductory math course, Secular Student Alliance.
Recs: 3 math/physics professors who knew me at least for a year.
I wish you good luck! I am still working on my essays. Should be submitting my application soon

Do you guys know if Cornell is strict on the March 15th deadline for IDOC? I feel really stupid, cause I thought we only had to do FAFSA and the CSS Profile. My parents haven’t filed their tax returns yet…
@transferready I’m in the same situation as you…
Earliest I could probably get those in is March 22, a week later.
I read somewhere that the penalty is that they cut financial aid by $500 if the documents aren’t all submitted by May
1st. And another 500 if not submitted by some other deadline.
H.S. GPA: I don’t remember
SAT/ACT: Not submitted
GPA: 3.82
science/Math GPA: 3.84
Intended Major: Chemical Engineering
Courses Taken: (83 credits after this semester)
- PHY1&2 (A’s)
- Pre-Calc-Calc 1,2,&3-DiffEQ-Linear Algebra (A’s)
- Bio 1&2 (B’s)

- Computer Science 1 (A)
- Quantatative Analytical Chem (A)
EC’s:
- 2 NSF funded Research REU’s
- Presented research at 7 Undergraduate Conferences (1 award for research and 1 travel award)
- Good amount of community service
- Tutor for Physics and Chemistry
- Community service and Scholarship chair for my Fraternity (PDT)
- Biomedical Pre-professionals program community service organizer
- In high school I think I got first place in the science olympiad and weightlifted in regional meet
Demographics:
- Black (half)
- Male
Essays:
- I’ll let you know if I get in
Side note: “Chance me” is an antiquated term that must be put down.
@shunnedtransfer did you mean to say April 1 or really may 1? Because mid-may is the notification deadline.
Nevermind, I was reading about current student financial aid. We may be out of luck.
http://www.finaid.cornell.edu/apply-aid/current-students
I’m a little worried also because I sent in my application at 10 p.m. (Florida time) on the 15th and because UCA is in a different timezone, they registered the submission on the 16th. </3
I called them yesterday and it’s fine, just send it in as soon as you can. I still haven’t sent anything on IDOC yet.
Hey all. Thought I might as well jump into the discussion.
Applying to AEM from a top 50 University
I have 20 something credits from AP’s (based on Cornell’s standards) – tested out of the calcs, most of the sciences and histories, and both econs
College GPA: 3.97
Major: Finance and Accounting --> these will become concentrations if I am lucky enough to be admitted
Classes Taken: Management Science (300-level), Accounting (200-level), Business Law (200-level), Communication Ethics (200-level), Economics (200-level), Marketing (200-level), Philosophy (100-level), Introduction to Business (100-level), English Comp. I (100-level), English Comp. II (100-level)
SAT: 2200
High School GPA: 3.8 unweighted; 4.3 weighted
Other: Work two jobs (totaling about 30 hours per week) --> one is a brand marketing and business strategy position. I average 1,000 new subscriptions per month. Other is a general managerial/clerical assistant position for one of the undergraduate colleges at my school. Most of my free time goes here.
Economics Club, Student Government Representative, Captain for IM Football/Soccer, Volunteer for United Way, also noted some high school EC’s (volunteering/work) that probably aren’t that relevant.
Not feeling too confident, but I felt it is worth a shot since the academic culture at my current school isn’t to my liking.
Anyone applying for CALS information science?
@badoo i didn’t
did any of you guys get an email regarding IDOC yet?
I was sent a link to send in the IDOC information about a week after completing PROFILE.
@ShunnedTransfer @YonceKnowles I still didn’t receive my idoc info from cornell, so I called their financial aid office and they said I would be getting it soon. But on the portal, it says the due date for the IDOC is 3/15?
If we submit the IDOC after 3/15, is it bad…?
I can’t access the applicant portal… I keep getting “access denied (403).” Anyone else have that issue?
