Cornell 2015 Fall Transfer Thread

That is about freshman admission

Oh, okay that helps a lot. Thanks!

@Coriander23‌
What major did you apply to?

Did anyone get their application in early, and hear back yet?

@CALSbound @suthamerica I was a guaranteed transfer and got a call from an ILR transfer counselor that was helping me out this whole year with classes telling me I was in!! He said that information may be posted within the next ten days online or through the mail.

@fadsaiueiowjkle‌ I’m not a GT but hoping to hear soon! Kind of tired of waiting… :frowning:

@CALSbound‌
Which major are you going for?

@Heli824‌
I’m trying for CALS Animal Science.

Oh nice, I’m doing plant science. I think the smaller majors like ours hear back a little sooner.

@Heli824 - I’m applying for Animal Science! Plant science seems really cool too, I like how CALS offers all these subcategories as majors instead of having just one giant biology major.

@Calsbound I was the SAME way!! Seriously do not worry. As long as you did everything they asked for you’re so in. They’re just being super lazy about telling us apparently…which doesn’t make sense because we’ve been waiting for over a year. Haha but whatever :slight_smile:

Seems like there is a very high acceptance rate for the smaller majors, especially for people who can actually display an interest in said major.

Smaller majors= fewer spaces

Fewer applicants though as well

Yeah, fewer spaces but fewer applicants. I’m guessing the smaller majors have fewer applicants per space than something like AEM.

I’m new here - what are the “big” majors in CALS/CAS at Cornell?
I’m applying for communication in CALS.

@puncherkid‌
For CALS, I think most people apply to AEM, Biology, and Communications.

How many people are in the Animal Science and Plant Science majors, as compared to like AEM or biology?

Is economics one of the popular majors?

@CALSbound‌
I honestly have no idea what the size of the majors are. However, from looking at the previous college confidential threads, 10-20 people on average apply to AEM and maybe 2 or 3 people apply to animal science. I actually haven’t seen anyone else apply to plant science on any of the CC transfer threads before. Of course this isn’t representative of the entire applicant pool.

@loodik1 Applied economics is probably the most popular major for transfer applicants applying to CALS.
