^^ I think that should be reasonable because answering the question why cornell is an important aspect of the essay as well.

My essay is currently 583 words. I am just giving it a day or two, and will cut it down with a fresh mind :)

Ok, question? Is there any point in taking the SATIIs if I’m applying ED to Cornell? Saw this question in another thread but his SAT reasoning scores were wayyy better than mine.

^^ well of course! all universities require you to submit either ACT or SAT I scores along with TWO SAT II (2 subject tests)

Well its not “required” for CALS. And I know someone got in last year w/o taking the SATIIs. I guess I’ll just take it anway, but I’m not sure if it will be in time to send em to Cornell for ED

Ohh! Sorry, forgot you were in CALS. well are you sure your not applying to any other university ? Because other universities require some of the subject tests. So if you are applying RD lets say to MIT or some big shot university, I know you might require SAT II for that ?

I am, but Northwestern and U of Chicago dont require the subject tests either.

If you ED to Cornell, do they see your first marking period grades? (I hope so because my GPA is below par
)

@imi1928, in that case, i am sure you dont need to do the SATII. you could simple save money on that end

btw, i am applying to U of Chicago aswell :)

Hi guys, I was wondering, is the organization DECA ([DECA](http://www.deca.org)) known well throughout USA ? Thats part of ECs and I was wondering if its worth mentioning in my app thats if its well known throughout america ? ( i am in Canada)

@ fishyfishy Do you mean the grades for the first semester of senior year? Or the grades from freshaman year? They will definetly see the freshman grades, but I’m not quite sure on the senior grdes because mid-year grades would probably not be out by then (at least not for my school). If they did though, that would be amazingb/c my earlier grades are not as high as my recent ones as well.

ED or RD if I get 2150 on SAT? ED vs RD, which has a better chance of being admitted? Because students applying ED have higher average score than RD.
Btw, if my SAT in November is about 2250+, ED or RD cornell?

Hey so I haven’t taken my SAT II’s yet and I have to take two of them. I was thinking about taking the one on October 9 and then the one on Nov 6 however ED applications are due Nov 1. Would I be able to add in my scores from the Nov SAT as a supplement or something? Would that be frowned upon? And if so should I take both SAT II’s on the same day in October? Thanks in advance for any help.

I’m pretty sure that you’d be allowed to do that. I’m assuming that you’re taking one on November because you might not be prepared to take it on October.

But anyway, I remember reading somewhere that they usually recommend taking the SAT I on October and the SAT II’s on November if you’re doing ED. Thus, I’m assuming that it would be ok to take one of your SAT II’s on November. You can always email the admissions people just to be sure.

guys my main common app essay is 854 words. Do you think thats is good enough? I dont want to add anymore and its hard to remove stuff.

There’s no max number of words for the common app essay, so if you think your essay is complete then that’s fine, but of course, you shouldn’t have a 10 page research paper.

i am just worried because ppl say that the sweet spot is about 700 word essays. hopefully that isn’t a negative on my end
.

Hey, ok I may definetly be talking way too muh about Cornell’s supplement essay (in which case you can ignore me haha), but I had a sudden burst of inspiration and rewrote my essay (for the 3rd time…). Its about 600 words. 400 words leading up to my decision to major in Commmunications and 200 or so as to why Cornell is my #1 choice for my intended major. How long are your essays and like how much of it is talking about “why Cornell?”

Ok, that is all haha

^The max is 500 words.

It is? It seems im not good with properly reading the prompts. haha The same thing happened with my NYU answers. Ok time to make some cuts.
Thanks!

Does anyone here write about hello kitty? No one’s stealing my topic!
