Were there any transfers who got accepted to AEM who did not take Bio. Even though it is not required it is recommended, and is like supposedly a big thing at Cornell. Any answers.

Any help is appreciated.

it is highly recommended that you do, chatting with the ones that got in this year i came to a conclusion, take all the classes they state on the prerequisites page, but then again, you are going for the AEM,
why don’t you tell us what year you are into and the classes you have taken so far

Yeah, so I have taken Calc 1, Calc 2, Statistics, Micreocon, Macroecon, Financial Accounting, Arthistory, General Biology (took this in high school and my only B lol), Physical Anthropology, Modern Humanities, English Writing-College Compisition, English Writing-Advanced Composition and Critical Thinking. All of this is up to the this summer because I am taking two of the above classes. In the fall I will be taking Calc 3, Differential Equations, Philosophy, and Conceptual Physics (lol subject to change)

I am at a community college. I will take speech in the spring most likely because they changed the requirements a little bit for incoming juniors.

why did you not transfer in for you sophomore year, dude what the hell man…u have perfect courses, a dame good gap and, by reading your past post’s, you can write well, you would have definitely gotten in, the thing is that its gets hard after the second year… think about it
here’s what they think…

i am not judging…top universities like to take in junior transfers for like other top colleges, because most if not all courses match up,
and since you a commie, lol,… (community college), you probably wont be in the luxury to pick nice upper level courses, as you know, community does not have them. i might be wrong…
and also i will be applying in the same year as you…fall 2012 right?
so i guess competition is up for me…lol
but tell me…why did you not apply for this year?

bad effing high school man
wasn’t motivated

i have a lot of other stuff that helps?!

Take all the prerequisites, I’m not sure why you signed up for calc 3 and diffy Q. Take ALL GENERAL classes, i.e. general physics, general bio, so they are guaranteed to transfer cause they are general classes. I can’t say for sure exactly, but I feel that is extremely difficult for AEM to turn you down if you took all their required coursework and did well in them. Taking physics or chemistry or even biology doesn’t make any sense if you’re going into the field of business (depending on your concentration and goals).

yo tony, what all science courses have you taken

bio I, bio II, and Chem I. Just like the requirements page said haha. If you wanna take physics take general though, not concepts! :)

you are supposed to take another science course…

Yeah I have taken all their pre-reqs except for speech

I will take speech in the spring

anotehr problem is the california community colleges all have very few classes, but a lot of students. My community college for example itself has 38,000 registered students. And my registration date was horrible, so i kinda had to take what I had to.

im taking a lot of math because some other places i am applying to love math people.

You have a great chance then! Also, look for speech classes online! Ocean county college has tons of online classes, you basically video yourself giving a speech and tests/quizzes are online. People from California were in my General Biology I class online!

and to jason,

And for AEM you do not need another science course, that would be absurd. there are enough science courses they require that a business major should not have to take to earn their degree… but it is what it is.

If you go to the AEM website it says:
For transfers entering as juniors (three or four full-time college semesters completed or in progress at time of application, up to 60 credit hours):

Two College Writing/English Composition courses
Public Speaking
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Calculus I
Statistics
Encouraged (but not required):
One full year of Introductory Biology (labs not required) (i.e. Gen Bio I & 2)
One course in either Chemistry or Physics (i.e. Chem 1 or Physics I)
Courses that meet the CALS social science and humanities course requirements

my bad tony, i thought you only had one bio class, i misread,
and i highly doubt online classes are acceptable credits to transfer
and i second that, absurdity of them to ask for business majors to have science credits

it’s alright,

Thing is - Online classes will NOT appear as online classes on your transcript. I took several classes online and they appear as regular classes. It would be rediculus that they wouldn’t transfer - it’s the same material as an on-campus course, just more flexible for people who maintain a full-time job and have children. I got both my official transcripts from CCM, AND Ocean county College (where I took my online science b/s courses) and not one of them mention the online portion. 3 or 4 credits are 3 or 4 credits no matter what. I guess it depends on your community college

oh h…well here is texas, they ****** you up in very corner…well just make sure you take only elective online courses…

Thanks for all your responses

Are you sure jason that calc 3 wont trasnfer…it should…look at this agreement with santa rosa junior college

http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/prospective/admissions/transfer/external/upload/SantaRosaJrCollegeCE-2.pdf

Thing is… Calc 3 isn’t part of the AEM requirements… Just Calc 1 & 2 it may transfer as an elective though.

bump…

Does anyone know/recommend which Bio I should take. My school offers a one semester course of Gen Bio 101 with no labs, and a two semesters course of Bio 1 & 2 with labs. AEM’s website has a class transfer section for my school where it tells me which courses will transfer, and it says Gen Bio will transfer to AEM. But, I don’t want to be the kid that took the easy way out. On the other hand, I really don’t like Biology and prefer physics.

you have to take two semester of bio one or the other,…and either chem or physics…
all of this is on the website
