This is the best and the brightest? This is the team of the most intelligent students and professors in the country, and they can't even get their **** together and make decent financial aid instructions without us having to crawl through their stupid convoluted site? And not even an email's notice concerning their stupid deadlines for financial aid? Give me a break, Cornell.

Interestingly enough not to many of the financial aid officials are actually Cornell Grads. Give them a call when the offices are open they will assist you. Also please quit your b*tching, every buddy who wants their money has to do it, I think 60 percent of students, so man up, grow a salty pair, and deal with it. (we all know that it sucks)

I didn’t have any trouble meeting deadlines or doing everything properly…

I thought the first step in getting admittance was navigating the site and meeting deadlines. lol

The OP is a ■■■■■. Here are some of his posts:

“peter orszag…has a weird hairpiece. this is why yale is awesome?”

“Has anybody on this thread actually mentioned anything substantive? This is the most incoherent, unintelligible, unsubstantiated discussion based on false causation assumptions that I have ever seen.”

Oh, he got deferred from Columbia. Maybe that explains his b*tching around forums. I guess he’s trying to pass his anger by sparking online arguments.

Bad idea for the OP to post this on the Cornell forum.

But I do agree with the OP - I think many many people were surprised by Cornell’s financial deadlines.

…or maybe many many people just didn’t bother to search it up and assumed that Cornell’s deadlines were similar to those of other schools?

either way. if people don’t fill out their FA forms, all the better for those who do! :)

and I think that it is normal for many many people to assume this since the deadlines for the applications are all similar. And plus, most people have 5-10 colleges that they are applying to. Not many people are going to think “Oh. Cornell. I bet they have a completely different deadline than most other colleges. Let me check. Yup.”

FYI the financial aid deadline isn’t all that important. I didn’t apply for financial aid until after I visited, until after I was accepted regular decision. And I still got my forty grand>

Thold, that is what I heard - that the college is pretty lenient with the deadlines. I just hope that this is always the case.

All of Cornell’s deadlines are readily available in the literature they send out and on teh intrawebz. Remember, when you assume…

cornell is a university, not an ivy league

No, I heard Cornell encompasses an entire eight-university athletic conference, making it an Ivy League.

The only thing that bothered me was the self-service website. It doesn’t really go into full detail of any missing application pieces. I would know whether or not I’m going to Cornell right now if it weren’t for some issue with my supplemental essay.

Not applying to Cornell here, but I shared some of this frustration when I heard UChicago’s finaid deadline was Jan 2, which is completely different from everyone else’s February deadlines. It’s kind of a shock finding that out one week before the deadline; you get into a panic.

cornell does post instructions properly…maybe if you gave yourself more time instead of rushing things last minute, especially something as important as financial aid, you would have found it instead of being so bitter…

…just a thought…

If this is giving you trouble, I can’t imagine what life will be like for you at Cornell…

It’s a postmark deadline anyways, right? You still have time.

I found the information just fine.

And applying to 10 schools doesn’t make it any more difficult.

Good morning,

Thank you for contacting the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment. We ask that the CSS Profile be submitted to the College Board by January 2nd. Please know though, that if you submit it shortly thereafter – if you need a few more days to complete it – we will still accept it and consider it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.

That’s straight from an email for the FA department.
