I would say that you probably have above average chances at Cornell. Yale is a crapshoot so I don’t know but you have a decent chance if you write good essays. To become an an astrophysicist, you usually get a bachelor’s degree in physics and then go to grad school for astrophysics. You should look at schools with good undergraduate physics programs. Yale isn’t really known for its science and math departments so I think you should look at Princeton, Harvard, or MIT instead (Yale is still a great school of coarse). Remember to have safety and match schools just in case.

Your gpa is a little low but your sats are good enough for either school. However your ec’s are pretty weak and all the awards you mentioned are meaningless, schools don’t care about elementary school or honor roll. I’d say you have a shot at Cornell but don’t get your hopes up on Yale.

Pretty unlikely at both- unless you have a hook, you need to shoot for a 3.9+ at least.
