Cornell Art Interview- is it really necessary?

So today I just found out that I missed the deadline for requesting an interview for Cornell's art college. I know the interviews aren't necessary, but they are "strongly recommended". Will it negatively affect my chances because I did not interview?

I know there aren't a lot of Cornell Art kids on the forum but any help would be much appreciated.

I don’t know if it’s really necessary or not. But my D had one and was accepted early decision. She also had strong test scores, rigorous schedule with good grades and a very strong portfolio. We looked at it as another way to demonstrate interest, plus she comes across very well in interviews. She is poised and mature and is able to discuss her art and various artists. We figured it could only help her.

The art program is so small it is hard to find out about it here on cc.

What kind of questions do they ask?
Thanks!
