Cornell Arts and Sciences vs. Cornell Hotel

How good is the Cornell hotel school is relation to the cornell college of arts and sciences? Are the students just as qualified and intelligent?

In Fall 2009 CAS accepted 2,722 out of 16,288 applicants.
Midrange SATs of the entering class were CR 640-740, M 660-770 .

Hotel accepted 216 of 976 applicants.
Midrange SAT scores of its entering class were CR 590-670, M630-730 .

Both schools consider non-academic factors in admission, fit with the desired program of studies is quite important.

As far as “good”, Hotel is the best program of its type in the world, so far as I know, or at worst one of the best. CAS is a very good program of its type, has its areas of excellence but is rarely considered as the best of its type in the world. But that’s a lot more competitive playing field.

I hope this wouldnt happen…but if the hotel administration didnt prove to be what i think it will be, can I transfer into another Cornell school? Such as Arts and Sciences or AEM (Applied Economics and Management)? If so, how difficult is it?

Transfer is possible between colleges at the university, however it is not automatic. I’ve read it is not such a huge problem if you are doing well, generally, and particularly in courses at the desired college. I’ve read that AEM is requiring a 3.6+ GPA from CAS. but I don’t really know what all the standards are between each combination of colleges there. But I do know that transfers do happen.
