What the hell, I'm bored. Hit me with whatever ya got.

Hooks: lived in Israel for 4 years, as well as rural China. Maybe that'll count as "diverse."

Assume I have good recs and okay essays.

Applying to (colleges of Arts and Sciences when applicable, interests in Computer Science/Engineering, Economics, History):
Cornell U ED
Stanford
Northwestern U
Washington U. St. Louis
Cal Berkeley
UMich-Ann Arbor
UWisconsin - Madison
UVirginia
UColorado-Boulder

I'll take other school suggestions as well.

Cornell U ED--Match
Stanford--Reach
Northwestern U--Slight Reach
Washington U. St. Louis--Match
Cal Berkeley--Match to Slight Reach (OOS)
UMich-Ann Arbor--Safe Match (OOS)
UWisconsin - Madison--Safe Match
UVirginia--Match (OOS)
UColorado-Boulder--Safety (In-State)

Your rank of 30/580 works against you a bit at the Ivies with the exception of Cornell and the ECs aren't that great with the exception of the plant genetics work. Also, your 800 SAT II Chinese score will be discounted by the top colleges. Having said that, your overall GPA of 3.92 UW, your tough courseload, and the fact that you have all As once you get past the freshman year will get you admitted to almost all of the schools you chose.

As a computer science/engineering major, you should also consider UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, UCI, Rose-Hulman, and Wake Forest. Also, consider Duke, even though it is a reach for you.

Good luck.

I personally expect you'll get accepted to Cornell ED, as well as Boulder and Michigan. That is, assuming you in fact do have a good essay and recs and the works.

I agree with the above.. Stanford is the only one that could go either way.

Ray192:

UCB: Slight Reach (out of state, Engineering)

How is Duke? They bombard me with so much mail. I've looked at Carnegie Mellon, but I don't like being admitted to a school with only one major since I like a bit more leeyway exploring. Berkeley is the only UC I like since I hate the weather and environment in all the other ones. But I'll check out Wake Forest. Thanks!

The mail means only that you got above a certain PSAT/SAT. Often one that they reject the vast majority of. The more kids they get to apply that they reject, the higher their selectivity rating.

o thats why i dont get too much mail...my psat sucking. that and i keep my addresses as quiet as possible

I didn't say I believe that gave me a chance. They just **** me off by sending me all that junk.

UC Berkeley:

For Engineering especially EECS (Electircal Engineering & Computer Science) - Slight Reach.

For College of Letters & Science (Econ & History) - Match

Anybody else?

bump again.

Do dod odoo do.

Yoo hooo... anybody?
