@kimfuge88
he is still on Duke and Dartmouth waitlist
COA NU is $3400 plus work study, Brown $2700 no work study for freshman
As a parent, I have my worries too for NW. 3 semesters, off holiday periods( summer and spring) from sibling and family, short Christmas holiday breaks, and Chicago weather, very very cold, am African African
Might need to take a loan for NW he is a QuestBridge finalist
Brown is more slow pace and Ivy. better jobs connection after college
Yes am quite ignorant but still a very worried parent so kindly go easy me
If Duke BME comes through and your son prefers warm weather he should go there. Otherwise, job prospects from NU and Brown are equal. If anything for BME-related jobs, NU likely has a slight edge. NU has a top 10 BME program btw.
I certainly wouldn’t say that Brown job connections are better than NU’s.
There are other top schools like Stanford, Dartmouth and Chicago that operate on the quarter system as well. I think your son made the right choice with picking Northwestern for BME.
I think your panicking at this point doesn’t help your son to enjoy what is arguably the best time of his life.
@IyaYard - the below link suggests NU’s business networking opportunities are as strong as Brown’s:

@kimfuge88 thank you, am getting more enlightened
