Cornell called my counselor.

Cornell called my school counselor today to ask about my extracurricular activities. My counselor said they weren't really talking about grades, but more of me as an individual. My counselor said they lasted on the phone for about 40 minutes or so. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a good sign?

its obvi a good sign

They called my son’s guidance counselor and he was admitted ED this year.

Thanks  I’ll just hope for the best!

cornell called my counselor about a week ago too! they also emailed my mom saying that she was missing something from the financial aid application… i think it was a copy of her tax returns or something. my counselor told me that the lady asked if they could fax over my current cycle grades and she did. i also faxed over my memorandum stating that i am a finalist for the gates millennium scholarship. lets hope its a good sign, sarahbear  lol.

@ rer0705 I think it is a good sign:) Yesterday I got an invitation to Diversity Hosting from Cornell’s undergraduate office. They said I was invited because “I will be accepted to Cornell University’s Class of 2015.” I literally couldn’t stop jumping up and down! Good luck to you, and I hope you get the Gates scholarship! I was literally one minute too late to submit my app. :(

Congrats Sarahbear!!! You must be thrilled =))

My son is Junior interested in Cornell. Could you please share your stats and the program you applied to?

Thanks.

Cornell calls counselors to ask for current grades?
I hope Cornell doesn’t call my guidance counselor…Do they do this for everybody (as in those they are accepting) or they do they do this for people who are currently on the fence?
I hope they don’t call for my current grades… My current grades are horrible, I have a C+ in a class (down from an A+ last semester)…that is related to my intended major nonetheless! My grades came out last week though…perhaps it might be a bit late since Cornell might have made a majority of their decisions already.

do you know if cornell’s financial aid office is completely independent of the admissoins office? like whats the point of making a financial aid package of a person who’s going to get rejected… cuz i got a very specific email requesting for more information for financial aid today… good sign/bad sign?

Thanks for posting this thread, I hope it’s a good sign for my kid brother! They called his GC earlier this month but he didn’t want to get his hopes up because Cornell is his dream school. He got waitlisted by his safety and his GC was floored because he is an all around outstanding hardworking kid and it was her insistence that led him to apply to that particular safety. She wrote him an epic recommendation because of how much he wants to go to Cornell. Good luck everybody

@ azndarkvader, i think that it is a good sign if they emailed you about a missing part of your financial aid package. my mom got an email about missing docs from cornell and brandeis, and i was accepted to brandeis yesterday… maybe i will be accepted next wednesday when the decisions are posted! lol. also, on the cornell web log-on financial aid to do list, it says that i am being verified for aid. it has a due date of 5/1/2012. why would they need my verification in 2012 if they dont accept me? lol. hopefully we get in and get kickass aid packages. lol.

I also got the same diversity hosting letter… I wonder how legitimate of an acceptance it is though? If I get denied now I’ll be really really ****ed haha

Diversity hosting letter means you will be admitted. My D got one last year. Congrats! That weekend is really fun too.

^ i got into cornell. I knew there was a correlation
