Cornell CALS Admission Requirements

Hi there,
Currently I’m a senior developing college applications. I was interested in computer science so my school has it as my math credit this year. Hence why I cannot take calculus. Can I still apply to CALS? I am going to take calculus at a local college for the spring semester. Would that be fine?

Yes

That’s too bad your school doesn’t allow you to take more than one math course at a time. My son is a sophomore currently taking AP CS A and Honors PreCalculus at our school and both count as Math courses. He is actually on track to have 2 or 3 Math classes each year gong forward because of the CS courses, Calculus BC and AP Stats combination.

I would assume Cornell would be familiar enough with your school to know they don’t allow you to take both at the same time and wouldn’t penalize you. However, isn’t the CS course a full year course anyway, so how are you getting the Calc in? Just after school somehow and AB?
