Cornell/CALS/Biology ED Legacy 32 ACT but...

My son was not a top student as a freshman in HS but got better each year and so his unweighted GPA is about 3.7 and his weighted is about 3.9 with his junior year weighted = 4.3 and unweighted 3.9+. Unfortunately, he went to a small HS and was not tracked in the restricted-access AP classes due to his performance early on and so he only took one AP out of a possible 4 that were offered. His non APs were all “honors” What do you think his chances are at Cornell CALS in Biology ED with a legacy mom and 32 ACT (not super scored). He’s two sport varsity and captain in both with other extracurriculars.

New York resident?

hmm… the gpa that is sent will be an average of all years, so it might be a little low for cornell, but he has an upward trend which is a bonus. 32 is just a tad on the lower range, but being a legacy should significantly help him.

Thanks. NJ resident…why do you ask…is there a preference by Cornell for in state NY for the Contract Colleges?

I would think NY residents may have a very slight edge at the Contract Colleges but I don’t have any evidence of this.
