what's the benefit of having a cornell card v. just paying with a bank debit or cc?

it seems like kind of a lot of work to transfer money onto the card and then use it. im a trans student and already have bank debit/cc cards. is there some sort of discount with the cornell card?

is it just more for parents who want to watch their kids spending?

No discount with Cornell card. it’s just more convenient (as claimed by some people) to use their student ID cards for everything. it’s basically just like a credit card. so, if you don’t think you’ll use it, don’t sign up for it.

You don’t transfer money onto the card. You use your student ID card to debit purchases of up to 750 dollars a year, I believe.

The amount shows up on your bursar account later, which can be then paid by your parents (or whoever else pays your bursar bill).
