How many people is CAS getting off this year???

curious as well.

I hope at least some people are accepted, to give us hope…and it’s not another year of 0. We should find out the first couple of people being taken off this week, no?

let us hope, my friend.

how would you know? On the waitlist!

I called and also wrote an e-mail to the CAS office. They replied, saying that they should know in a couple of weeks whether they’ll be taking anyone off the waiting list this year but at this point it seems to be very unlikely. Bummer. However, both the e-mail reply and the lady at the office said that they don’t know for sure yet, so I guess that leaves that tiny itsy bitsy hope for us.

Oh hey I’m on the wait list too…kinda lost hope. Where are you guys going instead :)

I know we get a call if we got off the list, but what if we didnt? Do they send a mail or email or anything?

The e-mail said they’ll be sending out a mail notifying everyone of their decision. Oh, and I called again yesterday, and another lady picked up and she told me, “Yeah, we’re not going to the waitlist this year”. Bummer (why the heck did they put a bunch of people on the waiting list then = =+)

It’s very curious. They wait listed nearly 3000 people…

nnnnnooooooooo^^^

Well I kind of knew this would happen. Looking at statistics, Cornell rarely do use their waitlist. Why the heck is it so big then!? I guess I got a little optimistic because I was pulled off UChicago’s list and thought maybe it could happen for Cornell as well…

They make a big waitlist because it is convenient for them to have a nice big pool of qualified students they can go to if they notice a particular lack in the class after the May 1 replies come in. They’re still all about “building the class” and the might end up needing someone with particular qualitites, so they hedge their bets by keeping lots of kids on the waiting list. I think it’s cruel to get so many kids’ hopes up, but I do see why they do it. Sorry to everyone hoping to get in off the waiting list. Now’s the time to forget about Cornell and get excited about wherever you are going. In the end, you will make your own opportunities and have a great college experience wherever you go.

anyone get an email saying they are not going to the waitlist or otherwise?

Hey! At first I was excited about the waitlist at Cornell, but regardless of where you go, you’ll get a great education. The Ivy League isn’t everything and cornell, in particular, isn’t worth a broken heart.

ivyguy93 - UChicago is an AMAZING school. Congratulations! Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get off Cornell’s waitlist.

i just want official closure. :(

i got something called a transfer option…
not taking it though- sorry for those who would have liked it

just today you got called gshak?

Even if he did get called, a transfer option is not a real admit. Not trying to be mean, but don’t get false hope.

im pretty sure its guaranteed as long as you maintain a 3.0 in your respective college?
at least thats what the email implied…

and yea yesterday they emailed me
