<p>That is, if you got a 1100 and the average of 10 scores is 1400, you'd do: 1400 + (1100 - 1400)/10 = 1400 + (-300)/10 = 1400 - 30 = 1370. Congrats, you've just brought the average down 30 points to a 1370."</p>
<p>So, I'll start</p>
<p>1420 + (1420-1420)/1= 1420</p>
<p>...but, rembmer, SATs aren't everything!</p>

<p>the formula is:</p>
<p>current average+ ((your score- current average)\ the number person you are)</p>
<p>for instance, for mcortex88, he was the second person, and the average at the time was 1420 so:</p>
<p>1420+ ((1510-1420)/2)</p>
<p>which simplifies to</p>
<p>1420 + (90/2)
<p>1465</p>
<p>viola!
<p>(btw, so far there have been 7 total entries)</p>
<p>why dont u just go to the roster, add all the scores, and divide by how many applicants there are????</p>

<p>the Cornel Roster Average SAT score is... drumroll please...</p>
<p>1461.549296</p>
<p>however the current average for this thread is now:</p>
<p>1376</p>
<p>and 8 people have partaken in this</p>
<p>avg = 1364</p>
<p>11th</p>
<p>1351 + (1490 - 1351)/11</p>
