Cornell Chance?....HEOP?

Ok, let's say i qualify for HEOP.

My stats are pretty low, to start things off, but i have a couple things that might alleviate that.

SAT scores: 1550! (no, not the 1600)...i know i know i know..extremely low but in my defense....ok i have no defense.

SAT II: Bio M: 570/610
SAT II: Math II: 560/600

Ok, G.P.A :3.5ish

Extra Curriculars is actually my strong point and i'm sure some are more 'relevant' than others...but which ones exactly?

Well, here they are.

Science and Technology Entry Program:10th 11th 12th

Extremely Selective: 85% avg. to even be considered.
3 recommendations, 1 interview and a weeding test.

Varsity Soccer: Another of my relevant ones, which i hope will be a deciding factor.
11th 12th

Student Council
Leadership Position: Senior Member
10th 11th 12th

The 'Challenge': "Jeopardy like gameshow"
Leadership Position: Team Captain
12th

Chess Club
Leadership Position: President
10th 11th 12th

Job Opportunities Program
Very Selective

Central Park Conservancy Intern

Well, i have a couple more but didn't add it on my application.(mistake, couldn't edit it after first submission)

Well, that's the gist of it.....how do you think I'll hold up?..(HEOP)

Also, should i submit an athletic supplement if i'm already submitting something about my mother's economical situation.
Fasinro is online now

Which school did you apply/are applying for? You have a good chance at being selected for HEOP, I just hope that you wrote magnificent essays and showed a strong interest in Cornell. Good luck =)

Thanks, yeah, i wrote a great essay! and if i get in, i hope i get a good package because like my SAT scores my EFC is real low!..lol

Thanks again!

hi i know this is not my thread
but what does it mean - in the ‘who is eligible’ requirements that
‘those who are inadmissible to cornell under regular admissions standards’???
can anyone explain this to me please???
much thanks!

haha…it’s ok

The Higher Education Opportunities Program, HEOP for short is a program for students who wish to attend Cornell (or any other school that offers the program, NY) but is either economically disadvantaged (poorer than the average joe)/ academically disadvantaged. I’m not sure what they mean by academically disadvantaged but since it has been proven ( I guess) that students with more money behind them have better resources and in turn, are academically advantaged, students with less money have lower chance of being …hmm…“inclined academically”. They’re proportional.

Who is Eligible (and all other things) can be seen here:www.heop.org/guideline

It basically tells us the income range for what is considered “economically disadvantaged” and some other conditions as to how one might be able to qualify.

So those who apply and are accepted under the program are reviewed under different admissible standards and have a better chance at admission vs the regular applicant pool.

thanks a bunch Fasinro! :)
