Strong resume. I assume you are looking at the Psych. major in the college of Arts & Science? This is one of the toughest admits at Cornell. You may also want to look at the College of Human Ecology’s Human Development major. Although many use it for premed, there is a psych track within it. This is my D’s major & she has had great opportunities working in infant research lab, NYC internship, etc.

RD acceptance is more selective if that is what you are asking…

Great academics, good EC’s and awards, and the volunteering and work experience is a plus. I would say it’s a low reach/reach RD. HumEc might be a good alternate school, as more students are admitted, but very few students actually get accepted to their second choice of college. It’s worth a shot though.

Csdad, thanks for that info! I’m actually looking into becoming a psychiatrist, so psych w/ med sounds perfect. My only regret is that I haven’t taken a lot of “hard” science classes. I wanted to do something in the social sciences so I took all the history I could! Will that affect anything if I’m looking to take the med track?

…most important thing is that your GC is able to check the “took most rigorous courses offered” box on their part of the common application. Actually your background & interests may fit the Human Development major better than the psych major in CAS. I don’t know at this late a date if you could go to info sessions on each today? Enjoy your visit today, weather is going to be perfect!

LOVED IT!! No, seriously, Cornell is now my #1 school. Human development major seems perfect for me. Thanks again for all the help! Such a beautiful campus.

If your parents are willing, apply ED & I think you have a good chance of admit! Feel free to PM me with any more specific questions pertaining to the major, Human Ec or the college in general. Good Luck!
