I'd say you have ok chances. bring that reading score up to a 700 and I'd say you have good chances

I don't usually like to post on chance threads...AEM has become increasingly difficult to get in, even if you are a NY resident. A friend's son applied to AEM this year with lower GPA (but similar ranking) with high SAT and ACT was deferred, waitlisted then ultimately offered GT. I think for you to have a chance you need to bring up your SATs. In my friend's son's case it was his GPA (A-/B+) that hurt him, which was not possible to change. In your case, you still have June and Oct to bring up your SAT scores. Good luck.

thanks guys
any other opinions?

maybe take the ACT and see how you do on that test...you may do better

^ agreed 100%. My coverted ACT score was 500 points higher than my SAT score.

I'm a sophomore in high school and would also like to know about my chances at Cornell (and maybe even more prestigious? Cornell seems to be one of the easier Ivy's to get into).

cum. GPA- 4.0
PSAT scores- 98th percentile
-SAT/ACT: to be taken (summer classes...)
-current and future classes:
10th- Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors(ish) History and English (they don't really offer those honors at our school,) Honors Alg.2 , Spanish 3
11th- AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP US history, AP English Lit., Honors Pre-calc, spanish 4
12th- AP physics, anatomy, AP calc (AB,) AP spanish (level 5 is automatically AP at our school,) and AP composition

EC's (I realize that they are relatively weak at the moment, and I am working on them) :

-Active member of the Service Club (lots of community events) about 18 hrs. of service so far
-Tutoring elementary school children in reading on a regular basis
-10 hours of service at children's hospital 9th grade summer
-Member of the Environmental Club
-High School Lacrosse (jv)

future EC's:
-(hopefully) varsity lacrosse
-OSU medical center volunteering 10th grade summer
-Genetics Lab internship
-A committee position in the Environmental Club
-Stepping up service in the Service Club
-continuing the reading program with the elementary school children
-NHS (11th and 12th)

Do I have enough? And by the way, how much do colleges really look at work experience?

you cant base a college decision on a sophomore. come back in a year

ok thanks though. The ivy stress is catching up to me...

"my chances at Cornell (and maybe even more prestigious? Cornell seems to be one of the easier Ivy's to get into)."

Is it SERIOUSLY all about prestige? I mean..honestly..that's so annoying. Are you only applying cause it's the "easiest Ivy to get into"?

If so..don't bother..honestly. Try your hand at one of the more "prestigious schools"

...tool.
